Unitron 3" equatorial refractor
I bought my Model 142 way back in 1965! It's proven to be a trusty companion and a corner peice in my living room. The optics are good for an achro, and the mount is solid for visual work.

Excelent scope for observing the planets, the optics are very sharp, I have never seen so much detail on the vanishing details of the green flash, I can see seagulls on an island 10 miles away. Saturn and Jupiter are splendid at 150X.
The mount is alt-az. and works very smooth at high power, I even use this mount for my Megrez 80mm.
I saw the price here an it looks ridiculous, at Ebay I have seen this scopes go for less than 1000, I was lucky and got mine for 100 dolars in a street market on Tijuana Mexico, I am in love with this scope, it is the one I use the most, I have also a 13.1" coutler, and a 90mm ETX, the unitron is far sharper than the ETX! (wich is an excelent telescope also).
It came with .96" eyepieces and focuser, I modified the focuser to be 1.25". The focuser can be better but works just fine.
I recomend it, this is very old and works perfect, maybe the original owner is allready dead (the telescope is from the 50´s).
I have put 9 instead of 10 because 10 for me is just perfection, I can not put a 10 even on a nalger eyepiece, they are beatifull but not for a 10.

Unitron 3" equatorial refractor
Wao i had no idea about these scopes,i bougth mine used verry used this model is from the late fifteis ant its performance is stunning for the size, the cotings are not at the same level as the modern scopes but still is good.when i saw it at a local telescope shop i didn't think its anything worth my time, boy was i ever wrong, the scope is verry long and a bit heavy, this thing is made to last no plastic all metal and wood.
optically its amazing ..no color at all not even on the limb of the moon..amazing for a fifty year old scope ,,its also supper sharp and the contrast is superb...low power wide feilds are not posible with this scope its a true planateru and loonar and binarry star scope and it shines in that role.
i think unitron scopes are verry overpriced ,new,i bougth mine for 400$ us but i dont know about the 2274$ price for a new one ,,these scopes have not changed since years back, for that price you would be able to buy an apo without a mount.
for me it was prfect pcause i only paid 400$ and i got something that woul out perform a pronto on planatery viws(not wide feild and portability).
