I have owned this scope for 18 months now and have spent plenty of time using it.

I mainly use it for planets as my home is in London and the light pollution is really poor.

The telescope will give absolutely perfect planatary views. I have taken it to star parties several times and each time it beats every other scope in the field on views of mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Everyone else reaches the same conclusion.

The scope is heavy which is a drawback but you can now buy a lighter version but this is not as nice or as well made as the origional CNC tube.

Overall I can highly recomend this telescope. If you like to look at the planets you would need to spend a fortune on an even larger apo to beat the view through this. Nothing else can match the sharpness this delivers.

The best thing about my TMB 152 is that I can forget about upgrading my equipment and just enjoy the fabulous views.

I have compared it to lots of other premium scopes at Star Parties and nothing but nothing in the field gave the same view of Mars and Saturn.

If you buy one, you will be very happy.

I purchased this scope from Brae imaging UK , where you can expect a warm and friendly advice [ unlike Apm ] in helping you make what is a considerable financial investment.
The tmb 152 is an awsome scope when you have just jumped from a 4" refractor as I did. It is a heavy scope & I had to spend a great deal more money on a Gemini 41 to mount it on which is a point people tend to overlook, that unless you have a stable mount your telescope is all but useless .The optics are suberb & the rotating 4" focuser is a great asset when viewing at awkward angles. The first view I saw through the scope was the moon & it was breathtaking. The surface was tack sharp & one felt you were actually moonwalking! The overall finish of the tube I would give a 9.5 let down by a few dust particiles in the paint & a totally useless lens cover which is made of steel rather than abs which will fall off each time you try and lift the scope from its case doing its best to scratch the dew cover in the process .I was slightly disappointed that Mr T Back did not acknowledge my emails about these 2 faults as he was only to willing to email prior to purchase. But who am I to pick fault with the creator .
Overall I am very happy with my purchase & reccomend to anyone considering a large refractor.

This is one of the most beautiful scopes you will ever look at or look through.

Its mechanical and optical quality is absolutely first class. I really can not find fault with the scope.

Its also available after only a few weeks of waiting time so if you are in the market for a premium refractor I would highly recommend that you consider this telescope.

The optics and the mechanical design/construction of this scope are superb. It's built to last several lifetimes. Almost everything on the lens cell and focuser is fully adjustable should you desire to fine tune the perfromance. From a practical perspective, you have to understand what you're getting into with a scope of this size. The extremely solid construction and big triplet objective translates into a very heavy tube and long cooldown times. The massive 4" focuser is total overkill for visual use, though you could hang a medium format camera off it with no problem. I had some problems with the rotating focuser sticking, but I worked it out with minimal effort and it now spins smoothly. The optics are absolutely perfect and the views are spectacular. Compared to the 6" refractors from Takahashi and AP, the TMB152 is priced relatively well and is more available. Mine is mounted on a Celestron CI700 mount which just barely handles the scope with no margin for extra weight. For the superb optics and solid mechanicals I would highly recommend the TMB152, as long as you understand its limitations on portability.

Optics are wonderful. It is a pleasure to look through this scope. I doubt I will ever tire of it. Less dedicated observers may find it a bit heavy to handle and set up. APO lovers should not hesitate to purchase this scope. The scope has wonderful features--rotating focuser, rotating dewshield and fine focuser. Only its weight causes me to give it a 9 for ease of use.
