A good Tenchi movie. Although it was rather slow at times and a little predictable. Id reccomend it though. Liked the first one better.

Tenchi Muyo: Manatsu no Eve! (Daughter of Darkness)
Now, I'm definitely in the minority here, but Manatsu no Eve is my favorite of the Tenchi movies. Why? Largely because it's derived from the OAV. It's not actually part of the OAV continuity, but it's close enough until the real OAV continuation comes along next year.

I've maintained since I first saw this movie that it should have been a 6-episode OAV. This would have given time to establish Kiyone's presence (her existance in the OAV continuity is already established via the Mihoshi Special; she's just stranded on a derelict spaceship and believed by Mihoshi to be dead) and to give more time to develop Yuzuha's character. And a bit more care on the part of the writer would've allowed it to fit perfectly into the established OAV continuity. It's a pity that Pioneer failed to do this.

But even with that shortcoming, I still highly recommend this movie. Basically, I see it as being what Shin Tenchi Muyo should've been. Yuzuha is similar in concept to Yugi (though the added element of her being in love with Yosho is a nice touch), and there is an obvious Mayuka/Sakuya parallel (though Mayuka is a far more interesting character, and there's no attempt to force her into an unconvincing romance with Tenchi). And this movie packs more character development and a better plot into 1 hour than Shin Tenchi does in 26.

The plot was pretty obvious but they used these things that where obvious to hide some interesting plot parts.. Interesting..

It has great animation and the dubbed one has great voice actors doing the voices. The story line can be boring at parts but flows. Overall a good Tenchi movie.

Overall, this movie is a disappointment over the first movie. Has some great moments. But even at 60 minutes,it tends to drag somewhat. But It's a good movie nevertheless.
