I used a starbeam for a long time and I have to say I am disappointed in the performance given the high price. You have put your hands in the light path to adjust the vertical axis. The push-pull adjustment makes it easy to lose a screw in the dark. My red dot flares if it is too bright, but then again I never use the brightest setting. If you need to take it off the scope, you have to unscrew it leaving you with a loose screw to reinsert into the mount or store somewhere you won't lose it.

I use this every time that I observe. It is made pretty good, but could be made with more quality considering the cost. My center adjustment screw stripped out after using for a few months, and had to be repaired, but it now works very well and I think that it just looks nice!!!!

Excellent build quality. Not the usual plastic red dot finder. The Starbeam's substantial feel and heft are reassuring. But it doesn't do any more than a rigel or telrad, and it could be argued that, lacking concentric aiming circles, it does considerably less. It costs five-seven times more than the cheapo plastic unit finders, but in terms of function it's simply not worth it. But there's a lot to be said for "fondle value", and the Starbeam certainly has that in abundance.

I bought this finder because the Rigel QF I had was driving me nuts. I didn't want to spend that much on a red dot finder but heard goods things about it.
They are true! I would highly recommend this finder to anyone. Oh yea and the flip mirror really does work.
