I've had the opportunity to get out observing a couple of times with this eyepiece under decent skies, and I am impressed. I think it's perfect. I was doing an A/B comparision with my 22 LVW, which I rated a 10. Using that scale, the 24 pan would be a 10.2. The only difference I noted was Pan was sharp across the entire field, while the LVW view was sharp across 99% of the field. I do like the fact that the 24 Pan is considerably lighter and smaller than the 22 LVW. The 24 Pan is now added to my keeper list along with a 17 T4 and a 12 T2.

I've only been able to use this ep once due to clouds, but what a fantastic night it was. Scope: 8" f/6.
Up to this point I was only using a 25mm plossl as my finder and open cluster ep. Very bright views, excellent contrast and pin point sharp to the edge. The double cluster was magnificiant. I even detected some nebulocity in M45 for the first time. Highly recommended.

The contrast on this baby is fantastic and sharp across the field. I sold my 35 and 22 Pan's after looking through this on my TV85. It's the lowest power I need.

I've had this eyepiece for a couple of years. It is simply the best executed design of any of the eyepieces I own. Unlike many other wide field eyepieces, you can't get a blackout in 24mm Pan even if you try. The widest possible field of view in a 1.25" eyepiece, gorgeous optics, and a compact design that can fit in anyone's pocket. What's not to like?

These are my binoviewing wide-field eyepieces of choice. Very generous 68 degree FOV means I get alot of sky using my Takahashi TOA-130F. I also use it in my grab-n-go Celestron C6 setup. Great eyepiece, nice wide fields in a small compact package. I recommend getting the Orion Winged Rubber Eyeguard (catalog # 07406) if you plan to use it for binoviewing.

The best in the 1.25" class low power e.p. It works equally as well in my f/5 10" as it does in my f/8 6" dob. I sold a Pentax 20mm XW in favor of it. This e.p combines the perfect balance of size optical quality and fov IMO.

I’ve just started using this eyepiece, but as there are so few reviews on the web at this time, I thought I’d post my first impressions.

I’ve used it with a Takahashi FS-102 refractor (4”, f8, 820mmfl) and a Takahashi M-180 Mewlon Dall-Kirkham Cassegrain (7”, F12, 2160mmfl). I do not observe with eyeglasses.

The 24mm Panoptic is tack sharp (edge to edge) with superb contrast and color fidelity. It is essentially distortion free (very slight pincushion distortion at the edge) and displays a stunning dark background. These qualities were clearly demonstrated in both scopes.

It is a very comfortable eyepiece to use.

I have previously used and owned various Naglers, Panoptics, as well as Pentax and Takahashi eyepieces and was able to directly compare the 24 with a 26 Nagler and a superb Takahashi 24mm LE. (I returned the Nagler and have sold the Takahashi.)

This eyepiece is probably suffering a bit from the impression that it is strictly a Binoveiwer eyepiece. While it may indeed be wonderful in that application, I have no way of knowing that. I will simply say that as a low power/wide field eyepiece for my refractor and as a medium power eyepiece for my Cassegrain it is unequaled.

I know, a little over the top... but, if anything changes over time, I’ll update the review.

save up every penny for this bad boy... i really love this eyepiece... very wide field of view... perfect for clusters such as the pleiades... can not say enough good things about this EP... it really makes a difference in viewing... can no longer go back to any other EPs for wide field of view viewing...

A lot of money for an eyepiece but this really is the definitive 1 1/4 incher in my book. Top of the eyepiece ratings and deservedly so - if you want to limit your viewing to 1 1/4 inch eyepieces then this is the one to have. Widest field of view possible in a 1 1/4, reasonably light (much lighter than the Pan 22 and less pin cushion) great contrast and sharp. Comparable in size/weight to the 13mm T6 Nagler and parfocal with that eyepiece too - together they make a great (but expensive) combo.

Very nice eyepiece. Actually the best in this FL range I can imagine. The fieldstop is at the max for 1.25". I think I saw already signs of vignetting at the outer 5% edge in my 8" f/6 Newt, some details at saturn disk vanished when it is very close to the edge, nevertheless the cassini division is still visible and sharp even at the outer edge. The moon is visibly stretched to an egg in the outer 30% (inner 70% are OK), it's a consequence of the wide FOV.
The only thing I will add to make it perfect is a winged eyeguard (the rubber eyeguard is OK, but not perfect).
