Like the other of the Type 6 series, a great performer. Great light transmission and contrast. In my TV85, the 171x and .5 exit pupil are great matches for good nights of planetary and lunar observing.

TeleVue Nagler Type 6 3.5mm
I have to keep reminding myself that this is a 3.5mm eyepiece. Yes, Mars is big and very bright, and it is moving across the EP field quickly at this magnification, in an Alt/az mount... But, the view is so bright, sharp and contrasty from edge to edge and the eyepiece is so comfortable to use!

I also have to keep reminding myself that this is a Nagler. It does not suffer from blackouts, “kidney beaning”, or increased color at the edges (pre-type 5 “Nagler” problems that I found really annoying). In fact, it "feels" exactly like the 7mm T6, it's just twice as powerful, an amazing accomplishment.

On the down side, there is a bit of ghosting on very bright objects (though less than a barlowed ortho or any other under 5mm EP that I've used), but it is easy enough to move it off to the side. That’s it...

I’ve tested it on an Tak FS-102 (234x) and an FC-76 (171x). I directly compared it extensively with a 5mm Tak ortho and a 2x barlowed (Ultima) 7mm UO HD Ortho. This is a great eyepiece for Mars, the Moon and globular clusters. (I have not yet tried it with Jupiter, as it was too close to the horizon during the test period.)
