Description:The newest Takahashi refractor, the triplet TOA-130, is the first of the new Ortho-Apochromat Series.

This 21st century innovation employs a newly designed triplet using special elements to produce the highest order of color correction, hence the name Ortho-Apochromat and is packaged in a short 32” tube with the lens shade retracted.

This instrument will be offered with the classic 2.7” focuser. For those wanting to use a medium format camera, we will offer a deluxe 4” focuser with built –in camera angle adjuster. This focuser, coupled with the dedicated flattener, will produce a fully illuminated 70mm circle with a usable 92mm diameter.

The high order of color correction of the Ortho-Apochromat Series produces images with saturated color and thanks to the numerous knife-edged baffles, an image with amazing contrast.

The TOA-130 is perfect for visual, CCD and photo imaging. The f/7.7 focal ratio with a 1000mm focal length is long enough, using the LE-ED 2.8mm Takahashi ocular, for high magnification observations of the Moon and planets and yet will produce a 2.5° field at 20x when used with the Takahashi flat field LE-50 2 “ ocular.

Ample back focus, over 200mm from the rear cell, has been designed in to permit the user to use a variety of CCD cameras, color filter wheels and electronic focusers or film cameras.

This scope is quite simply the finest telescope that I have owned. I have the version with the 4" focuser and it is a work of art. It is so well put together, the finish is beautiful, the focuser is a joy to use, the camera angle adjuster (CAA) is awesome, it goes on and on. But enough about how it looks. The views through this baby are amazincredilicious!!! So good that I had to make up a word for it. I have it set up on a Discmounts DM-6 Alt Az mount which provides buttery smooth motion. When I use this scope with my AP/Baader Mark V binos with a pair of 10mm Zeiss Abbe IIs.... forget about it. It does not get any better. Pure astronomical bliss!!! Oh and that new 13mm Ethos thingy anit too shabby either!!! I have no complaints about this telescope whatsoever. Yes it costs a bundle but the views are well worth it. GO TAKAHASHI!!!!

Takahashi TOA-130
My new Takahashi TOA 130 is mounted on a Takahashi EM-200 Temma 2 PC Jr. "go-to" mount.
The first impression of this telescope is that the fit and finish are exceptional , and completely in line with what one would expect from the manufacturer. There are no flaws in the paint of the beautifully finished tube , and the almost legendary focuser is buttery smooth. After the OTA is clamped into the cradle and the polar alignment accomplished ( a breeze!) , the telescope almost seems to disappear in use. User friendly is the commonly used term , I believe. The mount is rock solid and dampens vibration almost instantly , allowing the user to concentrate on observing. One could not find finer optics anywhere than those of this telescope. When coupled with a package of Televue Panoptic and Nagler eyepieces , the deep sky and planetary performance is truly outstanding. I am a completely satisfied owner!

Takahashi TOA-130
Absolutely brilliant!!!
Phaenomenal color correction (due to the fact that the triple optical system includes not one but two FPL-53 lenses), excellent contrast, sharpness, clarity. The fit and finish are superb, indicative of the fact that it is hand made from scratch!
The only downside is the weight. The Japanese have decided to house the lens cell in an oversized tube (so that they could make better baffles and also support the triple lens system) which means that in it's 5" class it is probably the heaviest refractor in the market (bare OTA almost 10kg).
In summary...a true work of art!!

Takahashi TOA-130
The Tak TOA's give a new definition to "exceptional" optics. My 130 is by far the finest APO I have ever used. That is next to an AP155, TV101, Tak FS102, Tak FCT76, Tak FSQ, TMB105. The color correction is perfect. That isn't a statement. It is fact. This scope has PERFECT color correction. You will be hard pressed to find any other refractor, at any price, approaching what the TOA130 and 150 bring to the table.

As an aside. I am amazed when people rate the value a "7". This is a top of the line scope. Optics like this come at at PREMIUM price. As such, you get what you pay for. To me this means that even at $5K plus, this scope delivers the best optical value you can buy.

Takahashi TOA-130
Great scope! There is something to be said about using an ultra high quality APO refractor!I use this on my CG-14 mount and tripod and it makes for a very solid setup. My Pentax and Televue eyepieces are an absolute perfect combo for this OTA.This scope with my Nagler 17 easily brings out the Merope nebula in M45 with the naked eye.It is ultra high quality, the machining, fit and finish and ease of use is second to none.I can't wait to study Saturn this winter with it!I keep it set up in my livingroom and it makes a superb decor! The refractor of a lifetime!

Takahashi TOA-130
My TOA-130 gives excellent false color free images even at very high power as advertise. Weight is approx 22lbs without accessaries. Curiously some consider this too heavy for a 130mm scope but I find it easy to setup. The focuser is very smooth and since I added a microfocuser it's even better! Cool down time might take longer so plan on setting up an hour or 2 before dark. It has very good contrast and shows a darker background where as a TMB or AP scope of same size that gives a higher contrast but tends to washout the background around a target. The TOA-130 is built solid and looks cool! I highly recommend it.

Takahashi TOA-130
This scope rocks! It is by far the best piece of astronomy equipment that I have ever had the privelage of owning. The images are truly magnificent! The planets and stars just blossom with color and detail! There is not even a hint of false color on even the brightest of objects.I was bored and was cruising the surface of the moon at nearly 500x the other evening and the image quality was still remarkable.A drawback is the price! This is not a cheap APO,but if you want the best this Tak will deliver.I am a very proud owner!

Takahashi TOA-130
The Takahashi TOA 130 with the 2.7" focusser is best mounted on the Takahashi EM-200 mount for either visual or photographic use. Together the telescope and mount make an outstanding package. The scope is still reasonably portable at nearly 70 lbs. for the combination. The optics are the best I have ever had the opportunity to use!
