Oh my. This is one eyepiece for playing with "insane" powers during perfect seeing nights.
When we first put this on a 16" Dob to see Jupiter, I looked in the eyepiece
and thought," Something's wrong... Jupiter's disk is way too small..."... then the moon slid
out of the FOV and Jupiter slid in. And banding/colors were still visible. ( I'd expected
a much more blurry mess of of disk ). Lower powers generally provide much better views of planets... but this eyepiece is a
kick for splitting doubles, or showing planets to novices at a star party ( if they can get past the extremely
tight eye relief ) And somehow the
eyepiece always manages to bring in a better image than I'd expect. For jolly's we maneuvered the scope to the blue snowball, and at 7000' and great
seeing it was a filled in ring, rather than a tiny disk. FOV
is small.. but the resulting view is great if you've got the right scope and right night.
