FCT= Freakin' Cool Telescope

When they baffle the dew shield, you know you have the best. The focuser is so huge and yet effortless to use. And the paint job is even finer and "deep" than present on the most exotic automobiles! And that EM-500....WOW! This is thee 6-inch refractor setup dollar for dollar. Even if the FCT is $2,800 per-in. of aperture, you get what you pay for. And this Tak gives you the best!

Just remember not to lift the EM-500 by yourself or you'll pull a Lumbar 5!

Takahashi FCT-150
this FCT150 has been wonderfully reviewed by Ed Ting and Todd Gross. I can add only when I first got it I couldnt stop looking AT it- it's a pure beauty.
The gas giants were up and I was stunned by the view- I had only a 4" Tak before that and was used to its resolution. the six inch is in another league.
I racked back the focuser on a bright star and watched the concentric rings spread perfectly out from original tight star image. it was a confirmation to me that the optics are pretty close to perfect.
The only drawback is its weight- you need something on the order of an NJP160 or AP900 to handle it- with finder it is in the mid 50ish pounds IIRC.

Why doesn't anybody say anything in their reviews? Am I the one who should
always say everything about the big bunch of telescopes I own? Whatever.
This is pure Takahashi: Incredible optical preformance on a wonderdull,
rock-solid tube assembly.

Perfect star test, 0 color, the best contrast I have seen.

Takahashi FCT-150
so thats what a perfect star test looks like- very nice and sharply defined concentric rings. sharp high contrast in focus images too. I find the mechanics on this scope unmistakably Takahashi : wonderfully overdone. also rather heavy at about 50 pounds, nicely balanced.

How does one describe an encounter with optical perfection?
