Description:The FCT-100 (triplet fluorite) is remarked to be the absolute finest 4-inch refractor ever built. It is also the rarest. According to many sources, only 20 or less were made available to the world! (I hear only 2 reside in the U.S.) The "new" price was $5,500. However, due to their insane rarity, they have appreciated to phenominal levels...and continue to do so.

The FCT-100 also includes a large 4-inch rotatable focuser which is present on it's larger FCT family members.

this scope is terrific- it's optics are sharp and the star test is perfect. It is also more portable and lighter than its FS counterparts at f6.4 . A super scope.

Darn good optics. Interferometry shows 1/10 wave pvt. Expensive on the used market. I'd say it's 5% below quality of Zeiss optics, and 10% above AstroPhysics lenses.

I bought mine in Tokyo three years ago for USD $1700. The scope is worth every penny I spent and it actually performs better than my highest expectations! Absolutely fantastic! The good news is you can actually find this scope (used)on sale in Japan for a little less than you would pay for a new TV-101 or 102.

I bought my FCT-100 in 1993 as an upgrade from a 8-inch Celestron SCT, which I sold shortly after having compared the two scopes. The FCT-100 beat the SCT and comparable scopes hands-down and not only with planets but (due to its superior contrast) also with globular clusters and other deep-sky-objects. Fantastic triple-capacity as a planetary-performer as well as a wide-field-scope plus (with the additional f/4.6-reducer/field flattener) as an astro-camera!
I bought my FCT-100 on TAKs EM-10 mount, which I consider very exactly tracking and of high ergonomic and overall quality. The mount is stable enough not only for visual, but also for photographic use. At star-parties, the mounted telescope usually attracts quite a crowd, especially after its performance has been rumoured on the ground.
My eyepieces: Panoptic-22 (29x) for open clusters and other wide-field objects, Nagler-9 (71x) for globulars and emission nebulae, Radian-5 (128x) for PNs and Jupiter, Tak-Hi-Ortho-4 (160x) for Jupiter and Tak-Hi-Ortho-2.8 (229x) for Mars, Saturn and double stars.
Interested to buy this telescope? Ask my heirs!

I forgot to say: the scope's focal length is not 840 mm as mentioned in the head description - it is 640 mm !!
