To everyone out there rating Sound City bad! I have dealt with SoundCity for 6 plus years. I have replaced my whole theatre system components a few times with them upgrading when new stuff came out. I deal with Ron Mezik and he is one of the most knowledgable and honest people I have talked to about audio and video equipment. He tells you when a peice is junk and when something is better even if it costs less. I have never had any trouble returning anything and have never had a shipment problem. I dealt with Rich on x714 the other day on the Onkyo 777 and then today I dealt with Ron on x706 for the JVC 780U hifi vcr. When you are dealing with mail order yes you need to know what you are looking for and should have already tested equipment out in your local stores. I have checked around with hundreds of so called discount / wholesale electronic equipment shops and no one I mean no one can beat their prices. I did order a VCR from a place call Discount Electronics calls VSTORE.COM and they send me a vcr that I did not order. It was the bottom of the line and was not even hifi. It was mono and they only deal with you through email. I then ordered it through Ron today, matter of fact I ordered 2 of them. I got one for myself and one for my parents. Sound City is the tops in my book. Tim

Dealt with Joe, ext. 708. Fairly knowledgable, eager for business, competitive prices. My Onkyo TXDS 777 (B) had the dreaded hum problem, and Joe authorized the return right away, even refunded the (very reasonable) shipping charges. I replaced it with the Pioneer Elite #24 receiver. When I read the receipt Joe had actually given it to me for $20 less than he quoted! I will do business with them again, even if I have to pay sales tax!

Buy from them only if you are absolutely sure you are going to keep it. Returning my receiver to them was a nightmare. They charged me $60
for a missing plastic cap on the optical input (that probably costs
20 cents) and they were rude. Avoid them unless you know exactly what
you are buying. Also, even though they are authorized dealer for most
they sell, selling by mail order is a violation of their agreement
with the manifacturer and they acknowledged that (well, only after
they realized that I am aware of it).

I was very please with Stereo City's price and service. I talked to to reps, Joe and Rich. Both were very helpful. They talked me out of a JVC receiver and into a much better Sony ES receiver. Yes, it was more money, but the quality is better and they beat the best price I found elsewhere by a cool $100. The receiver was double boxed, sent via UPS, and received the next business day. Of course the receiver is in perfect working order.

I'm a tough grader so 9/10.

I have purchased alot of gear through these folks and have always received it in A1 condition. It is always double boxed and it has always arrived when they said it would. I returned a Denon DVD 3000 with no trouble at all. They were very helpful in the return process and created my visa in a timely fashion. By the way, I replaced the Denon DVD-3000 with the Denon DVD-5000 through soundcity. Nuff Said

I ordered an Atlantic Technology sytem 350THX from them. Pretty good price. Arrived on time but with surround speaker stands missing. Was not told it was backordered! Called and was told it was being shipping out! 2 weeks later still no stands! I was thinking about buying a DVD and talked to them about it. Yesterday i called about the stands and was told they would be shipped out, no metntion was made of a DVD player. Today I recieved a package from them? Was it the stands? NO! They sent me a DVD player I DID NOT ORDER! Tracking from the UPS page says it was shipped 1 week ago! They didn't tell me they sent it, when i called yesterday! I ordered from Ray Debeak or whatever his name is! Would not do business with again! Ray if you are reading this: Were are my stands?!!! And I'm not paying shipping to send the DVD player back! I DIDN'T ORDER IT! I already bought a better DVD player for a better price from a friend of mine who works at a local store!
Potential customers: the price is pretty good but there are problems abound!

I've done business with Sound City twice and must tell you that their pricing is the best. The sales reps are typical east coast guys, so what do you expect. Shipment was fairly prompt and I was very pleased and will do business with them again.
