Slayers Try
I haven't watched the last three episodes so I can't vote just yet. But based on what I've seen so far, this is a great series. Even better than the highly-rated Slayers Next. Here are some of the reasons:

Characters. If you watched Slayers from the very first episode of the first season, all the characters have already grown on you. Lina, Gourry, Zelgadis and Amelia makes a very entertaining and interesting bunch, as Filia finds out the hard way by taking on a dangerous journey with them. By the way, does anyone else think Filia is a cooler character than Sylphiel? I do. By replacing bland, boring Sylphiel with the multiple-personality psycho dragoness Filia, in my opinion they upgraded a lot on the characters department.

Then of course there is Xelloss, whose role just got even bigger in Try. I know a lot of people like this guy.

Plot. In Slayers Try, we have a lot of different parties involved in this whole mess -- we have the humans, the dragon race, the Mazoku, the guy who is both a dragon and a mazoku, and the gods of the overworld! That's a lot of different parties, each having their own goals and agendas, and that makes the plot all the more exciting.

Concept. In the first season, the concept was basically two misguided individuals -- Rezo and his copy -- trying to summon the Dark Lord Shabranigdu and the demon beast Zanaffar. Boring. Slayers Next had a little better idea, with the whole Mazoku race going after Lina and the infight between Phibrizzo and Gaav. That was pretty intriguing, but not quite as good as Slayers Try, when the Dark Lord of another world is about to be summoned, and everyone basically teams up to try to prevent that from happening. And then there's the intrigue involving the five Dark Star weapons. (By the way, did you know that the names of the Dark Star weapons are also the names of the Lost Ships in another anime, Lost Universe?)

Humor. Face it, this anime is funny. Funnier than the first two seasons. The comedian sidekicks are just much better than in either of the previous seasons, and the first episode, one of the funniest of the whole Slayers anime, kicks off the series with a bang. It's remarkable how one can put this much humor in a series with an otherwise gloomy and ominous background.

Dark Lord. For those who have seen both Ruby-eye Shabranigdu and Dark Star, let me ask this question: Who looks cooler? Dark Star, of course. That guy has skulls inside his mouth, with about 16 different legs. That's very cool. A lot better design than that of Ruby Eye, who looks like a demon villain from a bad hentai anime. Besides, Dark Star doesn't talk (at least hasn't for the first 23 eps). How uncool is it when your Dark Lord talks trash at you in battles?

Overall I would say this is a very good and entertaining series. (And that's not redundant -- ever since Dragon Ball Z, "good" and "entertaining" have hardly meant anything similar.) I just can't wait til I get to watch the last three episodes and give it a big fat 10.
