Sakura Wars
Beautiful animation.Rich backdrops and believeable chara all with great personalities. It even made me laugh at times! A great story also which all the chara are involved in someway. If you haven't bought it now,you have no excuse! You don't have to be a fan of the game to enjoy it and I found a new fave anime girl in Sumire Kanzaki! Well, someone has to like her ^.^'

Sakura Wars
A suitable introduction to the world of "Sakura Wars," but far too short to be of any substance. Fortunately there's a new OAV series coming out soon.
I have to give the animation crew credit for the technical work on this one; it's very cleanly animated and there's none of the corner-cutting that you'd see in a TV version. In fact it even puts most other OAVs to shame.
It's hard to judge the work objectively, though: How does one compare "Sakura Wars" to similar videos? Is it a period piece (1920's Tokyo), an action/adventure (demons and swords and mechs, oh my!), or a drama? Don't be fooled by the seemingly martial title; there's a lot of interpersonal action and talking in this one. In fact I wonder if there really was anything worthy of being called "Wars" in the series. There wasn't enough development on the villains' side and some of the story seemed incongruous. Like when did Kanna come back after avenging her father's death? And how did Oogami go from being a new guy at the end of Episode 3 to being a fully-trained regular in Episode 4? I think that the plot suffered from the brevity of the OAV series -- if there had been more episodes, the story would have a been a lot clearer. And there could have been a lot more fights. (The fight in episode 4 was ... well ... not as climactic as I would have liked it to be. Sakura and Oogami do a combined attack and that's it?) Well, at least the final scene had some closure to it. However, the end is obviously just the beginning ...

P.S. Great music score. The ending theme song, despite having an intro that obviously rips off "Moonlight Serenade", is quite pleasant. The best part is that little orchestra/Hanagumi thing going on in Episode 4, though.

P.P.S. Sakura and Kohran are HOT!

Sakura Wars
Hideously bad, pointless and terribly boring. This stinks up to high heaven, so avoid like the plague!
