I have compared thes binos' with glass costing twice as much, I am very impressed with the performance of the Pentax. Contrast, depth of field, sharpness ... all are outstanding. They are built well and are comfortable to hold/use. Highly recommended.

I dropped mine onto concrete, on the second day of ownership. This put a ding in the barrel and the objective retaining ring, but the focus and alignment was unaffected. The view is stunning, sharp and contrasty right out to the edge of the field. Focus is fast and silky-smooth. They are lucky, too -- last week at the Grand Canyon they were able to zero in on seven California condors, soaring overhead. Now being repaired by Pentax, I miss them terribly. They weigh 24 ounces, more than I usually would take on a trip to Europe, but now I know I will not be able to leave them behind.

Now I have received them back from Pentax (Colorado), repaired at no charge (though the warranty doesn't actually cover damage due to being dropped). Though I got mine for $430 from an eBay seller, I think this is an anomaly, as most advertised prices are about $150 more.
