Simply the most, most, most outstanding telescope of this aperature besides exotic telescopes and apo refractors. Last night at Mt Pinos it blew the pants off 12" LX200's and 5" Astrophysics Starfires.

The star test is perfect. The tube is very handsome with beautiful craftsmanship. Its entirely lined with non-reflective paper, the mirror cell is a work of art, it cools rapidly, holds collimation well.

M13 through this scope looks like its a 12". Not to speak of the Swan, Trifid, Dumbell, Ring, open clusters, etc.

Its extremely bright for its aperature. Its optically PERFECT. The star test is nearly the same as my TV-85.

The mount takes a little getting used to (Precision), but its a smooth equatorial once you get the hang of it.

I give this scope an "11".

-Dustin

I have purchased 2 Parks 8" mirrors over the last few years and I can say honestly that I haven't seen a better perfprming optic anywhere! I've had several very good to perfect seeing nights recently and I'm getting hubble like views of Mars using the highest Magnification eyepiece I have, 484X regularly! Simply astounding quality! It gives a perfect star test.

Just installed Parks 8 " f/6 mirror into Antares Dob. BIG difference. Used UniversityOptics cell and 2 inch extension tube to reach focus. Old mirror was OK (this dob is the equivelent to the Orion XT 8). The Parks mirror can handle 400x and produces nice star test. Now I can see festoons on jupiter regularly, and its moons resolve as disks. If you ever want to upgrade any XT8 type dob with this mirror, you wont be disapointed.

Just a few follow up comments on the 8" f6 mentioned above. I had a chance to observe Saturn recently under excellent seeing conditions and to compare the image with several other types of scopes. Meade LX 200 12" : my Parks 8" easily beat it in every catagory ie contrast detail sharpness of image, except brightness. 6" doublet refractor f/8 ; Parks mirror way better, no comparison at all! JMI 18" : although Saturn was extremely bright in this scope with a Galaxy mirror, My Parks again showed a more detailed and satisfying image of the planet. I can't give Parks high enough praise for their optics, it seems that 48 years of experience in mirror making has really paid off for them and us!

Purchased an 8" f/6 PARKS mirror from Scopecity 11 /02 . The mirror tested out beautifully! Mirror must be 1/10 wave or better, I was able to use 350- 450X with little or no degradation to the images. Also image brightness exceeded any other 8" I've looked thru. Contrast on deep sky was excellent and planetary detail sharp and clear. I'm very happy with my purchase. The mirror only cost 250! Probably the best buy in quality newtonian optics out there!

I purchased the 8" OTA and use it as a DOB. The fiberglass tube weighs about 25 pounds. The robust, meticulous construction is legendary as are the optics. I feel I have an 8" DOB that puts the off shore "Big Three" to shame.
