Description:A mostly unrecognized eyepiece of outstanding optical and mechanical quality at a very reasonable price.

In a comparison with a Vernonscope Brandon 24mm ocular the Parks 25mm Kellner was the hands down winner. Slightly wider field of view than the Brandon (I think the Parks advertised field of 40 degrees is somewhat conservative), stars were sharp to the edge of the field whereas they started to get mushy in the Brandon at about 90% out, the Parks Kellner showed stars in the field approximately one magnitude fainter than the Brandon, and the background sky was definitely darker in the Parks Kellner.

I picked my Parks 25mm Kellner up used in like new condition in the box for $35 postage paid. I was so impressed with it that I ordered the companion Parks 6mm & 12mm Keller eyepieces new from Scope City.

Not sure how you can rate this eyepiece a "10". Don't get me wrong, as Kellner's go, this one is wonderful. Really sharp and one of the most comfortable eyepieces I've ever looked through. But even at F/8 there was a little fall-off near the field-stop - which is what you should expect from a Kellner. And as the intro says, it's actually a bit wider than the advertised 40 degree AFOV, but still less than a good plossl.

Coatings are very good. This eyepiece is excellent on faint nebulae, (if they aren't too wide). You get more light passing through this ocular than most anything out there.

I give it a solid "8", which in my book is pretty good.

The only reason I dropped the value rating to 9 is that the same basic eyepieces (but different focal lengths) are available from University for $35 as opposed to Parks $50. But it's still a great bargain in an eyepiece.
