Eyeglass wearers know how frustrating it can be using binoculars. You have to take your glasses off with one hand and hold the binocular up to your eyes with the other. Then, you must lower the binocular and replace your glasses to scan the scene again with just your eyes. Playing this on-and-off game gets pretty annoying. You’ve tried leaving your eyeglasses on, but it’s like looking through a keyhole: you can’t see the whole field of view. And you’ve tried to get by without your glasses, but everything in the distance is too blurry.

Orion UltraViews are the answer. They are the ultimate in eyeglass- and sunglass-friendly binoculars! Their extra-long 22mm eye relief allows the full field of view to be seen with eyeglasses on, simply by retracting the twist-lock rubber eyecups. That’s a real luxury!

UltraView binoculars are also long on optical quality. Made exclusively for Orion by Japan’s largest manufacturer of high-quality optics, UltraViews feature the finest BAK-4 glass prisms, and lenses finely ground and polished to exacting specifications. All lens and prism air-to-glass surfaces are fully multi-coated, providing much higher light transmission than can be achieved with the standard coatings offered on most other binoculars. Colors are pure and images are tack-sharp right out to the edges. The large center focus wheel allows quick focusing with just a fingertip.

The UltraViews’ cast alloy metal construction holds up admirably under extensive field use. Black rubber armoring protects the binoculars against bumps and scratches, and finger grooves provide a sure grip.

All UltraView binoculars come with a rugged soft field case, objective lens caps, and a deluxe wide neck strap. All models have a threaded socket to accept a tripod adapter. Ten-year limited warranty.

I've had a pair for several years now and absolutely love them. These are great all-purpose astro binoculars. I normally use them as a "rough finder" in conjunction with my scope. They are low enough in magnification to be able to be hand held. The view tends to get a little soft toward the edge, but it's barely noticable and completely acceptable to me. I've gone through a few binoculars over the years, and always held on to these

Orion UltraView 10x50
I have owned a pair of these binoculars for more than two years now, and I have used them often. They are light and reasonably well made, although I think the lens caps are rather cheap. The FOV is substantial and the optics are clear across most of the field. I've spent many hours looking at deep sky objects which were bright and clearly defined. As an eyeglass wearer, I appreciate the ample eye relief. On the balance, these are very good binoculars, well made and relatively inexpensive. Now, if they would just do something about those lens caps...

Orion UltraView 10x50
I have the 7 times 50 ultraview. When I bought them I compared them to two other 7 times 50 binoculars in the store that were the practically the same price. The others were made by fujinon and a waterproof pair made to mil-spec by a company that makes Navy issue binoculars. While there were attributes I liked in the competing models, the Orion binocular was clearly better optically. The images had more contrast, were slightly brighter and had less extraneous color than the competitors. Anyone that uses eyeglasses will love the long eye relief on the Ultraview. The rubber skin is a plus, and makes them feel good to hold. The standard wide cotton carrying strap is designed for comfort, they are good looking too. The high contrast of these glasses make them truly a delight to use. I can't explain it, but for some odd reason all colorful objects seem to be more colorful in the Orion Ultraview. My color perception seems to be greater when using them. Negatives? There are a few. At thirty ounces they are a little on the heavy side for my taste. The diopter adjustment of the right ocular is too easily twisted out of adjustment. Water resistance is very poor. When I hiked with them on a drizzly day the eyepieces fogged. The apparent eyepiece field of view on this pair is rather narrow, and sharpness falls off rapidly toward the edge of the F.O.V. Overall however, a very nice binocular for the price (and I'm particular) and a fine commendation for Orion products.

I got these on ebay for $70. I love them, they are crystal clear. They compare nicely to my Celestron 9x63 Ultimas.

Orion UltraView 10x50
I cannot believe someone gave these binoculars a zero (0) above. There logic was because they got a defective pair and did not even ask for a replacement that they deserved a zero. Unbeliveable.

Anyway...these are great for the price. I purchased mine after Orion dropped the price (within the last year) from $180.00 to their current price of $159 + $8.40 for shipping. What a bargin! I have used binoculars costing 3 times this in the 10 x 50 range and cannot see any differance in the views. The views I get from the center to the edge of my lenses are crystal clear, bright and the contrast both day and night is excellent. Well done Orion...I'll pass these on to one of my children. The one's I got say made in Japan. I love the 22mm eye relief and the fact you can twist the eyeguards in or out to adjust to your eyes best eye relief view. This is a feature all binoculars should have.

I'd really give these a 9.5 if I could...they are that good!

Orion UltraView 10x50
These were the first pair of real astro binoculars I purchased several years ago. Initially, I was highly impressed. Now that I have several other pairs for comparison, I find the UltraViews to be optically lacking. They just don't have quite as crisp and sharp an image as others I've used. However, eye relief is excellent, weight is not too much, quality is good and overall comfort factor in use is high. Though I've realized the optical limitations of these binoculars, I would still not hesitate to recommend them to beginners on a budget or someone seeking a secondary pair for occasional use. You could do better with more money, but the UltraViews represent an excellent value for what you get.

I don't have a lot of experience with using Binoculars for astronomy but I sure do know what I like. These bino's are fantastic and a great value($160)as well. My wife and I have a hard time setting these down and using our scopes. The brightness is fantastic, they are very comfortable to use (I wear eyeglasses), with excellent eye relief. The only nitpicking would be a very slight amount of edge distortion but certainly not enought to be a distraction. Compared to my other binoculars they are magnificent. Three friends of mine have each bought them after using mine recently. Highly recommended!

Orion UltraView 10x50
First class binoculars for the money, but I have a problem with them. I really AM an eyeglass wearer and I don't get enough eye relief. Still and all, views are crisp, light gathering is good, false color is low enough for the price and despite there being false color, they remain sharp. Unfortunately Orion advertises these as the ultimate eyeglass-wearer binoculars and they're not. That's my beef with them. They need about an extra 3mm of eye relief to be what is claimed for them.

Very satisfied. Took them to a dark sky night and my friend bought a set the next day. Bright images, good feel and very hand-holdable.

Orion UltraView 10x50
Fully multi-coated. Center sharpness is very good (not quite
in Zeiss or Fujinon territory, but hey, for the money). Edge of
field is good; not as good as Fujinon FMT, but better
than some Leicas I tried. Good eye relief. Contrast / brightness
good, but not quite Zeiss.

Excellent binocular for the money. Only ones I have tried
that were clearly better cost 3x or more.

Grade = 9 allowing for the good price / value.
