Orion Ultrascopic 7.5mm
I owned this eyepiece for several years after purchasing it as an Orion second, and only sold it because I bought a 6mm Radian, and an 8mm Orion LSW. Both light throughput and contrast were excellent in my 8 inch f/6 and 10 inch f/4.8 newtonian reflectors. The eye relief was tight but useable. I don't wear glasses while observing, but eyeglass wearers may not be able to use the ep. The barrel seemed a bit larger than my other 1.25 inch eyepieces, as it was always a tight fit, getting in the focuser. This gave excellent views on both planets and globular clusters at 160x. I would class this eyepiece up there with the TeleVue plossls.
I deducted a bit for the tight eye relief and the barrel size.

Nice eyepiece. Very sharp. Eye relief was a problem for me and also, though the image was good, I have seen other lenses of this size that have slightly better light transmission. Good value for a sharp to the edge eyepiece.

A VERY good value for the money. It's a good compromise (sp?) EP. A wider FOV than an orthoscopic, but not as sharp an image. Better eye relief than many plossls I have used in this FL. When upgrading to premium EP's, this is the last one that I have left to replace - I think that says something right there.

I have used this EP for over two years now on my 5" refractor. The image quality is great and light transmission is excellent, it matches my 10mm Plossl in overall light transmission while at the same time providing much higher levels of contrast. This is very useful in my highly light polluted primary observing location.

The rating is mainly based on the overall package. This EP gives a good field of view, good eye relief, and very sharp images to the edge of the field for a fraction of what some companies would charge. This is a great low cost but high quality eyepiece. Recommended.
