This is a fine scope to start an enjoyable hobby, i was afraid to spend alot of money on a bigger scope so i chose this one and i am very pleased with it though i am going to buy a bigger scope in the near future.

[webmaster note: vote moved from description]

For Years I have been interested in Astronomy, I learned the Night Sky with my Naked Eye, (Had to know it well enough to collimate artillery pieces off the Stars) and I already had a good pair of Binoculars, but I have never had as much fun until I bought this scope. For years I have looked up at the stars with the Binoculars and While I was in the Military Night Vision Scopes, (Passes the time at night on field duty.) but nothing was as good as this telescope.

I realize that this is a "Starter" Scope, and many people on here will scoff at it's small aperture and dimensions, but I was suprised at how well it performed. Jupiter's Cloud bands and Moons are very clear with the supplied 25mm (28x) eyepiece, Saturn's Rings are visible, and The Moon shows all kinds of detail. (I ordered 2 Higher Power Eyepieces and will submit an additional report on how well they perform.)

It may help that I live in an Ideal location for Astronomy, (No Street Lights, on top of a Hill in the Middle of no where.) but I can not find anything wrong with this supposed "Cheap" "Worthless" Scope, and I find it FAR SUPERIOR to any Binoculars or even the Night Vision Scopes that I have looked through. The Fact is I think Many of those in Amateur Astronomy get "snobish" with their Fancy High-Powered Scopes and discourage beginners who want to get started in the field.

After looking through this scope I find it laughable to read all those reviews on the web that any scope under $100 is worthless.

I guess it matters what you expect out of your scope.

I will eventually upgrade to a more Expensive Scope, but this one was great to get started with, and far superior to any binoculars.

I would recommend this scope to any beginners, don't let the "Astronomy Snobs" Discourage you!!!
