Description: | This digital electronic device turns your telescope into a “manual go-to” scope. That means that you tell Sky Wizard what object you want to observe, and it in turn tells you exactly where to aim the scope to put the object smack-dab in the eyepiece. It takes just seconds!
Each Sky Wizard unit contains an extensive database of celestial objects. Using the keypad, you can browse the database or punch in the name or catalog designation of an object. Then, you just follow the arrows on the red LED display and move the telescope until the display reads “Zero-Zero.” Or, you can go to any object by keying in its R.A. and Dec. coordinates.
Sky Wizard uses sensitive optical encoders, which the user installs on the telescopes’ mount, and a powerful microprocessor in the hand module to continuously calculate the telescope’s position, with extreme accuracy. No polar-alignment or tripod leveling is needed. Set-up is as easy as pointing your telescope at one or two bright stars (identified by name in the built-in catalog).
Sky Wizard works on equatorial and altazimuth telescope mounts, even Dobsonians. We have encoder installation kits for a number of popular telescopes, and components to rig up home-built scopes too. Powered by one 9-volt alkaline battery or 6- to 12-volt external power supply (not included). |
