Description:Orion Savannahâ„¢ Porro Waterproof Binoculars
Savannah Porro binoculars are not just “water resistant,” they’re 100% waterproof. The barrels are nitrogen-purged and sealed not only to keep water out, but also to prevent internal fogging of the lenses. That means you can take these binoculars with you anywhere, in any weather, and get a crisp, clear image.

Unlike many other waterproof binoculars, Savannah Porros don’t neglect optical quality. Quite the contrary! Their optics are first-rate, featuring the finest BAK-4 porro prisms for superb image definition, and fully multi-coated lens and prism surfaces for maximum light intake. The barrels are internally baffled to ensure excellent contrast. Both models have long 16mm eye relief, making them eyeglass and sunglass friendly.

The rugged, rubber-armored metal body design fits comfortably in the hand. Each features a large center focusing wheel and click-stop right diopter adjustment, and twist-up eyecups to shade your eyes from ambient light. Each model is threaded for a tripod adapter and comes with a deluxe wide neck strap, lens caps, and a soft carrying case.

Savannah Porro binoculars are ideal for stargazing, boating, birdwatching, and everyday use. They’re not just “fair-weather friends,” they perform in any weather and will last longer than ordinary binoculars. Two-year limited warranty.

Orion Savannah Porro 8x42
This binocular has to be the very best value in any price range and should be rated one of the best glasses available. I have the latest version with phase correction on top of every thing else; waterproofing, nitrogen purged, pop-up eye piece, etc.

I also own a Nikon 8x32 Superior E and find them no better than the Savannas which show no color or fall-off right to the very edge. They're as bright and crisp as the Nikon which is saying a lot, as the Nikons are better than all the other binoculars that cost much, much more. The Savannas roofs optically are as good as the Nikon porros.

Yet, as good as they are I give them a 9 because the diaptor movement is not as smooth as the Nikons.

My hat's off to Orion; they've really delivered the goods.

[webmaster note: vote moved from product description]

You are going to love these bino's. They are the lightest, clearest, and best built in their price range. I went through all the name brands when looking for my "lightweight, birding, hiking, jungle observing, astronomy binoculars". I live in Costa Rica at the present time, and will tell you that the conditions on optical equipment can be quite rough. I've taken these guys everywhere, and they never let you down. Awesome clarity ,all the way to the edge(although all this edge performance talk is alot of chin dribble in my estimation.)Eye relief is great,I can focus with or without my glasses.I am going to buy the 10x50's when I get back to States on my next visit.
