I love my 10"DSE. It is my favorite scope. I bought it used, on the outside it looks abused, so I don't have to worry about keeping it nice looking. Its great though, I need to get the mirror resurfaced and I think it would be even better. But the ronchi test was perfect, star tests well. The longer f/ratio gives decent views of planets.

Dislikes: This was a work in progress, like most 'Big 3' dobs. It needed a telrad. I flocked the inside with black velvet because it was painted a light grey. It has a helicle focuser, which I hate, my next purchase as a good replacement. And the spider was not very well designed.

hates: the rocker mount is not anything near steady. I have messed with it over and over and got it tolerable. Going to have to just build something good one of these days.f

For the price though, these complaints are not that bad.

I just purchased a used 10" DSE and love it! Proper collimation is ongoing battle. I would highly suggest the purchase of a laser collimator. As a newbie I enjoy pushing the tube around searching out various objects and becoming familiar with the sky. The scope must be moved in two trips (base and OTA). The base has proved easy to maneuver and the views have been outstanding. Lunar views are incredible. A telrad and an adjustable chair (drummer's stool) are a must. Highly recommend this dob.

This is a newtonian, but I can't correct the entry.

Compared to the other inexpensive Dobs, this is one of the best, a good trade off between size, portability, and ability to grab light.
