Description:These affordable, fully multi-coated 2" eyepieces put the night sky in stunning perspective. Their long focal lengths render picturesque scenes of extended deep-space objects framed in a generously wide panorama of stars.

Optiluxe 2" eyepieces are fully multi-coated to ensure maximum light transmission. The 50mm is a modified Plössl design of five glass lens elements with a 45° apparent field, while the 32mm and 40mm are four-element wide field designs with apparent fields of 58° and 62°, respectively. Manufactured in Japan, all feature precision-machined and anodized aluminum housings with chrome-plated, internally blackened 2" barrels. The barrels now have a captive setscrew recess and are threaded for filters. Each sports a rubber traction ring for good grip. For use in 2" focusers or diagonals. The deep sky has never looked better!

Amazig ep, the transmission of light and true colors is great.
The same ep that the University Konig, nice treatments, solid construccion and high quality optics.

Orion Optiluxe 32mm
Used when a 40 just isn't quite enough. Minor comma noted at outter edge but does not detract from the view. Internal reflection can occur if bright lights a nearby. An eyesheild would help. I like the EP very much.

Orion Optiluxe 32mm
A truly great eyepiece for the money. I use it extensively on my 8" F/10 SCT and 8" F/8 Newtonian. It provides pinpoint star images throughout the FOV in either scope, possibly improving on my 24 mm Meade and 40 mm Orion Plossls. It transformed my SCT into a wide-field scope, and I use it there more than any other eyepiece.

I have spent a lot of time comparing the 32 mm Orion against a 17 mm Nagler Type 4 in both scopes. This is completely unfair, as the Nagler costs 3x more, but what the hell. The Orion is more susceptible to image degradation in bright skies than the Nagler, and is generally less bright for extended objects, traits it shares with Meade and Orion Plossls. On the other hand, M41, M8, M31 and M33 look far better through the Orion because you can see much more of these highly extended objects, especially through an F/10 SCT. When combined with a nebula filter (e.g., the Orion Ultrablock), the views of nebulas can be breathtaking. The Orion is the only eyepiece through which I have seen the North America nebula (shall we admit this? not an interesting telescopic target). I examined the Helix nebulae (no filter) at a dark sky location last month using my Newtonian through both the 32 mm Orion and the 17 mm Nagler, and it was easier to see in through Orion, probably due to its smaller extended area at lower magnification.

Given that I can buy this eyepiece, its 40 mm breathren, and 2 or 3 Lumicon filters for the same cost as a 35 mm Nagler, I would go with the Orion option in a heartbeat. Very highly recommended.

Orion Optiluxe 32mm
The opitluxe is a good, if dated eyepiece. There are wider field of view eyepieces out there for a lot less money with better glass now. Do NOT pay 139.00 for an Optiluxe. Get an Explore Scientific for 69.99 instead!
