Orion Lanthanum Superwide 17mm
I use the vixen 17 mm. I use it with a mewlon 210, a vixen 80ED and a FS60C. I have compared it to the clavé 16mm. I think it gives 98% of the clavé qualities with a 65° field. I prefer putting the 2% in the field than in the contrast (the contrast is still really good).

In my opinion, this eyepiece is sharp.
Views of Jupiter have been crisp.
However, I don't believe contrast matches that of Pentax XL eyepieces.

This eyepiece is sold under the Vixen name here in Japan. On a value for money basis, it is a very good buy. The fold-down rubber eye-cup is convenient for glasses wearers, but is not as effective as the system offered by the Pentax XL range. It's image and contrast are both very satisfying, but once again, in a straight out head to head, it's not as good as the Takahashi LE 18mm in either respect. However, it does have 20mm of eye relief, and an apparent FOV of 65 degrees, something the Takahashi can't compete with. It's my most often used eyepiece with a 10" SCT, so I guess that says something!

Very comfortable observing position with excellent eye relief, but the edge correction in a fast scope such as my f/5 dob, is not as good as it is with my Panoptics. Contrast is close to, but not quite the equal of my Panoptics as well. Easily comes to focus in 1.25 or 2 inch mode, which is a plus.

No question but this is a great eyepiece. This is the main eyepiece I use with my LX-200. Images are sharp right to the edge. My only complaint is the rubber eyeguard. I like to be able to fold back the eyeguard and that is not possible with this eyepiece. This is the only reason I do not give this item a 10.
