I laughed, moaned, and screamed frustatingly at this dumb ass movie. It was incohorent drivel, the plot reaks, I couldn't understand much of anything that was going on. The characters weren't memorable, had no commen sense, said dumb irrational things, and just plain boring. Even though it was action intense, the plot was going nowhere. In other words, I hate this movie.

I was terribly disappointed with this one. This movie suffers from the "Lensman" Syndrome: bad acting, cheesy dialogue, archetype characters with absolutely no commonsense whatsoever (why does the smart guy always have a really big head?), good but overbearing animation, semi coherent plot, and really bad glam metal music. Some parts seemed to be exploited to look like a a bad music video. The only thing I really liked about the movie was how they explained the science behind all of the technology (at least that made sense!). The real problem I had were the characters and how they were portrayed and developed. Almost all of the main characters were a bunch of hot-headed A-holes that you really couldn't sympathize with. You'll be pulling your hair out watching these characters make decisions that totally defy common sense. Overall, not a terribly good movie, not even to pass the time with.

I don't know what others felt, but this anime is a true sci-fi classic! It portrays a interesting and mysterious plot. Some argued that the characters were weak, but I don't think the strength is necessarily in the characters as much as the idea of a ragtag crew sailing through space and stumbling on the origin of humanity. My only complaint with this, is the rather mild fighting scene at the
end. This movie truly had it's moments,if you can survive the annoying subtitles you'll find something you'll like in this movie. =^_^=
