A superb binocular for looking at the night sky. Many objects one is familiar with take on a whole new look with this wonderful instrument. For example M28 was mistaken for M22 when I was first looking through them! Globulars like M22 take on resolution and are farily large in the field of view. Star clusters which have in the past through a telescope look nice simply are awesome when viewed at 25x with both eyes. The sense of depth with clusters is most obvious. Looking at the first quarter moon at 40x is really fantastic. The amount of detail visible was similar to the detail seen through my 8" SCT at around 80x, only your eyes and brain are so much more comfortable using two eyes. It was not very hard to imagine looking out a window of a spacecraft about 6000 miles from the moon-approx 40x closer. Optically the binocular is very good. The oculars are erfles but still have quite a large area with a sharp view-especially at 25x-around 70%. The afov is 67* which gives you a very large window to look through. The stars are not good right at the edge but the overall view when looking at an object centred in the field is very sharp. Eye relief is very comfortable at 25x and just a bit close but very usable at 40x. Optical coatings appear to be MgFL only but this still passes a lot of light with only some very minor ghosting when looking at very bright objects. To me the only drawback of these binoculars is there weight. They are very heavy and must be used on the tripod or some other solid means of support-I have mine mounted on a pier next to my roll off roof observatory. One must be careful when mounting and dismounting because of this weight. But once mounted they are very smooth to handle and move around the sky. I even track commercial airliners at 40x with them! In conclusion a superb binocular for someone in the big binocular market. They are not cheap but priced way below others that really do not offer IMHO any better value. Highly recommended Gary
