Description:The advanced optical design of the TAL-150K provides the high resolution and light gathering power that astronomers need in a portable observing system.

The TAL-150K provides an aperture of 150mm (6”) and focal length of 1500mm in a compact tube length of only 430mm (17 inches). The TAL-150K delivers wide, flat fields, with excellent correction of coma, spherical aberration, and astigmatism. It's small 14 micron spot size surpasses SCT designs while the fixed mirror sytem and robust construction eliminates mirror shift and collimation adjustments.

The rigid pier mounted german equatorial design comes standard with motor RA drive, hand controller, slo-motions, locks, and engraved setting circles on both axis. The pier is the ideal height for viewing in a sitting position.

Standard accessories are 2 plossl EP's, (25mm, 10mm) 2X barlow, lunar filter, crystal clear 6X30mm finder (8*FOV), high precision mirror star diagonal and an adapter for converting to standard T2 camera rings.

I have got this instrument since spring 2005. The quality of visual field by 150K (with TAL superplössel eyepieces) is great.
The stars are pin-point even in edge of optic field. Small big telescope!

What a great instrument. The mount is rock solid, very little vibration. It is very smooth and steady. The optics are fantastic, pinpoint stars throughout the whole field. The finderscope is awesome! The best one I've used so far. The whole setup looks very nice and professional. It all comes packed away in a nice looking birchwood trunk. The whole setup is heavy though, very, very heavy. The polar alignment finder is very sharp (illuminated reticle w/ const. grid). I thoroughly enjoy this telescope. If you are sketchy about imported optics, the customer service is first-rate.

Pros - great optics, rock solid mount, awesome finder, includes acceessories, no cheap chinese aluminum tripod, fast cool down and no dew build up. (I live in south Florida and to say that no dew builds up is quite a compliment.)

Cons - heavy! this thing is a beast, so dont plan on carrying it around in that birchwood trunk.

For 1300 bucks its a great value considering all of the things included. The only 6" instrument that is not an apo that can compete this this scope is the Intes MK67, which is also a fantastic instrument. These two are probably neck and neck, except the Intes will cost around 1800 for a similar setup and requires atleast twice as long to cool down. I highly reccomend this scope. Not only is the hardware great, but the customer service is unbeatable! They will do everything to make you happy except give you a free scope. Clear skies!
