Brand and Model:Night Watch
Price ($USD):$25.00 ?
Type:Book
Description:Before doing anything, like buying a telescope, one should really consider buying this book.Very soon after I made this purchase,I found my way around the sky in no time. The layout is excellent and easy to read and understand.I have found loads of deep sky objects, I now have an easier time locating objects, faint or otherwise.
There is a section of the book that has star charts.Details of objects are on the chart listing such information as magnitude of the object, distance from us,brightness, and what instrument is necessary for viewing. For example,Binoculars may be written as a requirement for a global cluster,a brief explination of what it should look like...a faint grey smudge, needs a 4 inch scope to resolve stars.
It is perfect for planning an observing session.Hope you buy and hope you like.

Night Watch
The very first book a new star gazer shoud be exposed to. I have had mine six years and still refer to it. I own lots of other books but it is still the one I refer when there is something that I need in a hurry. Astro cards and Starry night can fill a night with lots of pleasures. Starry night first and formost. Jim

Night Watch
The best beginner's astro book, bar none!! But it's not just for beginners. I still refer to it from time to time.

Dickinson covers everything, from how to find your way around the sky, to astro gear, to actually finding some of the beautiful gems of the night.

The next time some newbie asks, "what telescope should I buy?". Tell them to pick up this book instead... and don't even think about buying a telescope until they've read it from cover to cover!

The highest recommendation. Mike
