We love netflix! our local netflix hub is only 60 miles away. so we get our new rentals 2 days after we send the old ones back! super fast. and now they emailed us to say they are lowering thier prices! wow! if we complain about a dvd that skips, they send out another one before we even send the old one back! awesome company. they work for us.

In theory Netflix is an awesome service, but the reality is different. If you want a replacement for blockbuster you will be dissappointed. The new releases are never available, I see "short wait" again and again next to titles that I really want to see. I was contemplating ending my service because of this when they sent the *wrong* movie to me. Despite customer service admitting the error, they refused to even give me an extra day for free service to compensate. Bottom line- they are arrogant and they care very little about their customers. I ditched them and they did't give a damn.

WARNING! Be prepared for Bad Service. They claim "unlimited rentals" BUT they take weeks to get to your house. You pay a lot and get a little. Is there a competitor that does any better? I'd love a GOOD version of a mail order DVD service.

I returned a DVD and they claim I kept the movie. THE DID NOT HONORED THE COMMITMENT: THEY SAY YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR LOST MOVIES, BUT THIS IS NOT TRUE. THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD WITH $ 32.48 FOR "KEPT MOVIE". YOU WILL NOT FIND ANY PHONE NUMBER TO TALK TO ANYBODY, AND THEY ARE NOT ANSWERING MY EMAILS.

Has anyone else noticed that certain NC-17/unrated/adult DVD titles that were offered in the past from Netflix are no longer available? I've written several emails to NetFlix about this and have yet to get a response.

I must agree with other posters. I joined Netflix about a month ago. At that time, most DVDs were available and I received my next DVD in queue right away. After about a month, many DVDs on my queue started to become unavailable. Being that it's a holiday season, one may forgive them for that problem... but they take forever to acknowledge the receipt of DVDs sent. They also take forever to send the next DVD on queue. I experienced the exact same problem as the med guy from Harvard up above.

NETFLIX IS PLAYING A GAME WITH ITS CUSTOMERS.

I can't recommend it at all. Read the post about a customer who got a completely different QUEUE status after he opened up another account. They should be sued under a class action.

PLUS THEY GOT RID OF "ALREADY SENT IN" OPTION.

I live on the east coast and I am going to try rentmydvd.com.

The dvd's now take forever to arrive, the customer service never responds, they let them sit in the shipping cue for days before releasing, they blame everything on the usps. go to http://www.rentmydvd.com and give them a try. Hopefully they will be better and I hope that it is not the same company that is simply changing their name since the Netflix name is so bad now!

I've had so many movies either not available or lost in the mail (both ways) that I've cancelled my subscription.
The worse part is getting an email which tells you that because 5 discs have been reported lost (out of over a hundred rentals), they're putting you on probation...
As I don't believe my work mailroom steals DVDs (that would cost them their job pretty quickly), that leaves either the USPS or Netflix themselves.

Guys - time to change the red enveloppe for something more discreet.

They start out great. When you are on a trial membership every title is available. Once you are a paying member all the popular new titles are on long wait or short wait. The turnaround times get slower and slower. I opened a second account under a different name and all the movies that were on my wait list were available to the new account. Customer service is a farce. Great idea put poor execution.
