Meade Series 5000 28mm

I recently picked up one of these fine 28mm 5000 SWA eps along with a 24mm from the same 68 degree series.

I am very impressed with the optics/image quality/coatings and general mechanical quality of both eps.

The 28 mm has good light transmission and contrast with a sharp field to f/6.5 with a bit of fall off in clarity only towards the edge. At f/8 it exhibits very nice tight pinpoint stars across the whole FOV. Pincussion is on par with what i've seen in my 35 Pan and no lateral color was observed during first light testing.

Really like the feel of observing comfort with the ep and the movable rubber eyeguard is very handy for eyeglass and non-eyeglass users.

For it's intended use for deepsky observing it delivered solid performance and certainly going to enjoy the good contrast and sharp images of the 68 degree AFOV.

Good one Meade for this fine 28mm ep and also for my 24mm 5000 SWA. Another good quality 68 degree series ep on the market for the consumer at a good price.
