I could not justify keeping this CCD camera. At a price over 6K, it ought to have a fast download per SCSI but you need to buy a SCSI card for your laptop or desktop in order to ultilize the speed. Though one would think that KAF CCD, the same as the ST8 would be comparable, hardware wise yes, software wise no. I agree with other comments on Meades support but the true fact is they are so diversified that one cannot expect that a company being so diverse can focus on one specific product while SBIG or Apogee can. They do one thing and do it well. However, there may be bargins out there so if one could get a great deal then one may possibly consider it. The other option would be to write you own code in C or C++ to get the stabilty one is looking for. However, this is no easy task if you do not understand all the attribute of the CCD camera hardware. Just my two cent, but be wary of misleading promises and compare for yourself.
IMO Meade should focus on other astro products but I'm sure it is a matter of seeking cooporate revenue from other sectors of the market. However, to be successful one must provide a product that does what it claims.
