Description:Chromatic aberration is very easy to see on Venus. Can't stop counting the belts on Jupiter and the Cassini division on Saturn stays perfectly sharp on a very high magnification. A great problem are the vibrations. Three coating layers: red, green and blue. Great optics for such a reasonable price!

Excellent views on moon, planets, M42, double stars, and clusters. I can't say enough on the sharpness of image, especially with the supplied 17 mm Plossl. It hits the sweet spot, typically 2 times the F, eg. F8.3 X 2 = 16.6. I just don't see any violet or yellow colour around a full moon, unless under street lights of various colours. The moon is white, period.
Jupiter - lots of banding and main bands are bluish tint on a white globe. Saturn - tanish banding and rings. Cassini is crisp and dark with good seeing conditions. A good Barlow provides excellent views of all of the above, especially on Orion Nebula at 2X after the diagonal (bought a 2") and at 3X in front of the diagonal. The 17 mm Plossl is again excellent. Stars are sharp, with dark background, ice blue, red-yellow as they should be. Excellent seeing conditions allowed 300x on Saturn and Jupiter at 180x. You can push moon to stupid power and the crispness holds up. Great Polaris EQ3 mount is OK, but shakes when trying for fine focus. RA drive requires good balance set up, and polar alignment, and it will track very well. Saturn tracked for over 2 hours. I just changed EP's and tucked my hands into my pockets and watched. Did a 25 minute exposure on M42, Saturn and they turned out great. Fine tune the focuser with slippery UHMW tape on the existing 2 pads and it takes out almost all of the side to side movement. I'm going to a TAL SHD mount on a post set up.
Simply a great refractor for the money. I don't bother with the declination motor. Use the slo-mo cable to dial in and forget it. Saves battery power for occasional adjustment. Can hold the 2" diagonal, barlow, plus 35mm camera racked way out and still track well when - I say again - balanced and polar aligned. I do not regret buying this Konus 120. I do regret the lack of good weather. New pricing is good value.

I purchased my Konusuper 120 from Digitec Optical in New York(www.digitecoptical.com) two weeks ago. It arrived in one huge box which was well packaged. Everything was intact and and in perfect shape. Mine is the newer model with the free dual axis drive and the steel tripod legs. It was a cinch to put together-about 15 minutes including the dual drives. A real no-brainer- after all, I did it!. The mount is more stable than I expected, and when using the drives, there is no vibration whatsoever. The views are excellent, with only a minscule amount of false color- again, much better than I expected. Even in the poor seeing conditions I've had this week, I saw more details in the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn than I've ever seen. I can't wait to get this scope out of the light polluted suburban skies and into a dark site. This is the same scope as the Orion Skyview Pro, but with better standard equipment and a lower price. Agreat scope for the money. Only $519 at Digitec Optcal + shipping.

Good sharpness at hi X
Lot of diffuse light around bright objects (may be poor lens polishing)
Bad stability, i think it's a tripod weakness more than a mount trouble.
Very good focuser.
Good price/quality rate

i buy it in october 2000, and i think it's a very good lens (sharpen and contrast) for very bad seeing condition (ex: the moon through fog, jupiter and saturn through a windows and weather like clouds and wind). It's a bargain.

Optic is good for the price but the mount is sensible to vibration. Has somebody tried it with a Vixen GP ?

Yes, I own an equatorial mount Vixen Great Polaris with tracking motor and polar alignment scope and it is going very fine.

Great for moon viewing, barely adequate for the early-mid spring Saturn/Jupiter
viewing. You can forget about mars! Tripod very unstable - makes for jittery
viewing especially under high magnifications where you have to follow the object. Nebula viewing wasn't all that great though. Still, its my first scope
and I really can't comment on how good it is since I haven't seen any other ones!

This scope is the same as the Orion Skywatcher 120mm f8.3, made in the Synta Technology factory in China (together with the Celestron 102HD and 150HD), apart from the mustard yellow colour of the Konuscopes (apparently made for the European market). The OTA and optics are excellent for the money, but the OTA benefits from the beefier EQ4 mount (Celestron's CG5 mount) rather than the EQ3 (Celestron's CG4) mount often supplied. The Konuscope also seems to come with a 2" focuser rather than the 1.25" focuser sometimes found in cheaper models. It is really up to whether you like the yellow better than the black or white of the Orion, Hoon etc, and what price you can get it for. A great scope for the money under any brand name!

This telescope's description sounds like and looks very similar to the Orian Skywatcher 120mm EQ refractor; except for its weight and the accessories supplied.
