Though I've only used JandR's website and phone order departments, I would have to say that their service has been excellent. They've got a large selection of products and they ship orders very quickly. If I visited New York, I'd probably include a visit to their store on my itinerary. Till then, I enjoy their website and am reasonably happy with the products and services they provide.

J&R had the best price on the 'net for a Sony DVD player. Ordered via their web site on Sunday - it was shipped on Monday and arrived (cross-country) five days later in perfect condition. They kept me informed with order notification and shipping notification emails.

Previously I had received a remote control as a gift and I wanted to return it for a refund. It took one phone call to get an return authorization; otherwise no hassles in getting the money back for my 'giftor'. They didn't even complain that the item had been opened (which of course, it had).

Order was placed on a Saturday for a DVD burner. Great price but that's where the positives of shopping here ended.
As of Wednesday, I'd not been contacted or sent any shipping info.
When I called, a service rep actually put me on hold to call a store in Manhattan to see if they had one in stock to ship to their Queens warehouse to ship to me. I was told to then call back at 5 p.m. and if they had one, then I could get a tracking number for a shipment. HUH?????
Oh, but they sure had my credit card, address info, etc...
If you're leery about buying online, I believe avoiding buying from J&R may be wise.

J&R's kept true to their word of matching competitors pricing. Their customer service is one of the best I have worked with. When you call you ALWAYS get a human being and quickley to boot! They are extremely polite and helpful. I have ordered from these guys a few times and their shipping times are unbeatable. I have received my orders within 3-4 days, including the day I ordered. And everytime I have ordered it has been over the holiday season. That is impressive. Some other companies don't even get your shippment out of their warehouse for 3 days or more. Don't hesitate ordering from J&R. They are a class act!

BOUGHT A MINIDISC PLAYER/REC FROM J+R 3 YEARS AGO.RETURNED UNIT 4 DAYS LATER BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE EARPHONE JACK.TOLD I DAMAGED THE PRODUCT BECAUSE THE SWEAT OF MY HANDS HAD DISCOLORED THE CASING .AFTER 90 MINUTES OF HEATED EXCHANGE I RECIEVED A NEW UNIT AND GIVEN A SEVERE VERBAL WARNING ABOUT ANY FUTURE RETURNS.I WILL ONLY BUY THERE AS A LAST RESORT.

The service, shipment and merchandise has always been first class. J&R also has the best selection of systems and components. Open your stuff and try it promptly, and if there's a DOA, not a problem - ship it back and get a new one.

Customer service, so important in mail order, has always been first class.
