This is a response to the last vote dated 8/13/04.

I am totally helpless against this type of vandalism. In the internet world where you can do and act with complete animiety there is no one to hold to account as to whether one says is true or not. I cannot disprove with use of logic or reasoning his claims online. I hope this person is happy because all I can do is cry uncle. Please do not destroy what it takes so many years to create and what is going on here is deeply hurtful. Yes, admitting your pain may sound weak. But I cannot repay in kind. The bible says you cannot conquer evil with evil (Romans 10:21). Sometimes there is no way to entreat an individual to please stop. And he will probably only get more enjoyment if I beg.

Feedback on excelsis accumulates very slowly and takes years to amount to anything. But only takes seconds to destroy. I have never turned down a customer for a refund. I have never refused a repair regardless of how many years they have owned an eyepiece. This is all I can say in my own defense and hope that this individual who has gone from my binoviewers to my barlows to my 2 inch binoviewers to my 36mm eyepiece to this one will feel he has done enough damage, although there are dozens more eyepieces on this page to vandalize. It would be very easy to look at some of the positive feedbacks and feel that I must have done them myself. This seems to be the justification he gives himself here. Don't mean to write a book, but ask for this person to please call me and to let us discuss our differences because most of the time people's dislike or even hatred of others is a simple matter of not knowing that person. I've been using this eyepiece in the Siebert two inch Bino-Viewer. This 32mm eyepiece is amazing, with great contrast and very sharp images. It has no blackout and no kidney bean affect at all. It walked all over my 30mm two inch Vixen LV, as the Siebert was brighter and had very noticeable contrast advantages on Nebulas, Open clusters, and Globular clusters.

Do you own any other Siebert 2" EPs, and if so, what is your assessment (shorter focal lengths especially)? What about his 2" Barlow? Thanks for the information, John Barr

When I first got this eyepiece in the mail, I was a little concerned - the attributes that make an eyepiece cute at $50-$100 (obvious homemade appearance) are a bit disquieting at $189. But, this eyepiece is meant to compete with the TV Panoptic line, I would think (given the AFOV), and costs about half what a Panoptic 35mm costs. I have never looked through the Panoptic 35mm, but I have a Pan 22mm. Anyway, so far I am quite happy with the purchase. It takes me a few seconds to get in touch with the eye relief, but once I am "locked in" it is easy to maintain the image without blackouts. I did some panning around with my 10" F5 Dob, and did not sense any pincushion distortion, although I wasn't really looking for it. I did stop at one point to see how sharp the edges of the FOV were - could not tell the difference between stars in the dead center and pretty close to the edge. I put Venus on the very edge, and then I could see some coma, but even with Venus I would say you have 50 degrees of coma-free view. The thing that really struck me was the light throughput - I don't know the exact construction specs of this eyepiece, but there is clearly less glass than in my Panoptic 22mm. If you are looking to buy the Panoptic 35mm, I would recommend giving this one a try first - Harry has a 30 day return policy. I can't wait to hook a nebula filter to mine (unlike earlier Sieberts, it is threaded for filters). If there was a vote category for appearance, this eyepiece would fall way behind the cool looking Meade UWA, Pentax SMC-XL, or Televue Panoptics (I own at least one of each of these). But the votes are for optics and value, and therefore "10's" are appropriate.

I have a Discovery EQ 8 inch reflector that is an F/5, which I like very much. After much research trying out different eyepieces I decided to purchase an entire line on Siebert Eyepieces as I felt that they would give me the most for my eyepiece dollar. I have the 3.4mm, 4.9mm, 7mm, and 10mm 1.25” standard series; the 15mm, 21mm 1.25” deep sky series; and the 32 Ultra Plus 2” eyepiece. Harry has been a pleasure to deal with and in the many times that I have spoken with him he has given me excellent advice as to which eyepieces would benefit me the most given my telescope and what I like to observe. He truly took the time to tailor my eyepiece selections to me and I don’t think that you can get that service easily anywhere else.

32mm 2" review --> I wanted a wide angle (65deg) low power eyepiece, but the 1.25" eyepieces just don't have it. This 2" eyepiece has a great wide field of view that is very bright and sharp almost to the extreme edge (with F/5). All the other low power eyepieces I have tried had more edge distortion even though they had a narrower field of view. It is VERY well constructed, but it is not huge and heavy.. it is easy to use and gives the wide low power views that I wanted.

I am very pleased with this eyepiece. I have an LX200 12" and in trying this eyepiece out for the first time, I found it to perform as good as I was told it would. Edge to edge pin point stars. Contrast very good! I tried it with a 1.5x proxima barlow, and same high quality performance was found. overall this eyepiece was all I was hoping it would be. Its nice to find good quality at an unbeatable price. keep up the good work harry! starguy

Very,very nice wide field eyepiece. Very contrasty and extremely light weight. Very sharp images. Very easy to view through. There are eyepieces I'd rate higher optically... but those are either tiny pinhole orthos or extreme high end eyepieces at 2 to 3 times the weight and cost of the 32mm 2" UltraPlus! You can't go wrong if you are getting into 2" eyepieces and want quality for a reasonable price.

Used alone, and in a Siebert 2" Binoviewer, where the weight and cost advantage becomes very appreciated. Tested on Nexstar 8, Meade 12" GPS/UHTC, and 16" dob.

Argh. Worst quality eyepiece I have ever seen in my life. Tried to get refund but Harry refused. Told me I was an idiot that didn't know which end of my telescope to look into. Threatened to sue me if I posted a negative review on this eyepiece. I am calling his bluff.

I love this EP! :^) It is clear, contrast is great and it has a very large view. I bought it used so I go a great deal at $100! I am very pleased. Unlike some of his EPs, this performs well on a fast DOB as well as an SCT. Everyone liked it and compared it to a 35 Panoptic. Huge objective lense, good eye relief, and built nicely. Just wish it came with end caps instead of a case. I had to get my own caps, made them from laundry detergent bottle caps! :^) They fit great and protect the EP from dirt.

I recived my eyepiece a couple of days ago, and last night I finally got to try it out. Very nice! I am very pleased with this eyepiece. Harry personally told me that I would get pinpoint star images edge to edge, and that is what I got. When it comes to my telescope (12"lx200) I am very fussy, when it comes to the optics. If the product states a certain claim to fame, I expect to see results. I live in south-eastern mich. and the skys are very light polluted. With the I eyepiece was able to resolve stars that I could not of seen otherwise. I resolved doubles, where one star was very bright, and the second star was very close and much dimmer. The 32mm split them very nicely. I also have a 2" 1.5x proxima barlow, when I combined the two, I was very pleased with the outcome. Stars were still pin point to the edge. Thanks Harry, for the nice addition to my eyepiece collection. I will be doing buisness with you again.
