Harry Siebert Optics Standard 32mm
Staruser's review is on an eyepiece that has been discontinued (standard stock 32mm). Although this was not a bad eyepiece and I must admit rarely ever getting them back people were almost universally happy with the over 120+ sold. A few years back this eyepiece was rated on scopereviews.com by Ed Ting who is a well known reviewer. His comment was that it was a good eyepiece for the money, but was a little soft at the field's edge. This would hold true for the 1.25 in; and 2 in. version since they used the same optics. You might use this information to weigh a future used purchase. It is my opinion that it is very important to read all of the comments very carefully since the voting system can be very confusing. It would seem an inproportionate weight is given to "trustworthy votes". This is understandable in a certain sense, but does not necessarily invalidate the comments from those who choose to remain anonymous. Carefully reading the reviews can at times give very important information and many times people do sign their name to them.

I spoke with Harry on thephone before buying 3 of his eyepieces and he is a very nice guy. But, his eyepieces need some work to perfect them. I sold all of mine and bought televue eyepieces. The optics in Harry's eyepices are not very good in my opinion and I have had almost every kind of eyepiece you can buy.

I bought a number of Siefert eyepieces to test in the 2" barrels of a Televue 85 apo refractor, and in a Nextstar 11" SCT.

The two inch 32mm eyepiece appears well constructed, with a chrome finish barrel threaded for filters and a black plasticized lens container. It has no eyecup or rubberized grip, but the lens container offers some traction for removal and insertion into the drawtube.

Optically, the two inch version of the 32mm was the absolute worst eyepiece I have ever tested, and I sent it back for a refund.

Specifically, it was difficult to bring a starfield to focus except at the very centre of the field. The apparent field was about 50° and if a star was focused at centre, stars nearby were horribly distorted beyond the centre third of the field. I found it astonishing that such an eyepiece would be marketed. I returned the eyepiece with these comments but have not received any explanation or a replacement eyepiece that is of acceptable optical quality.

Not all Harry's eyepieces are of poor quality and please read my review of his two inch 7mm eyepiece as an example.

I have 10mm and 21mm Sieberts and the 32mm delivers a very clear view across the field with excellent contrast. It gives me just under 30X in my f/8 4.5" reflector and really makes star fields enjoyable. Another winner for sure and at $69 it is a very good value.

Harry Siebert Optics Standard 32mm
Bright sharp eyepiece. Lots of eye relief ofcourse. Very sligh falloff of sharpness around the edges but it strikes me as being much less than the Meade 4000 Plossol I have and not at all noticable on a fast scope.
Another well made and rugged eyepiece from Seibert.

Harry Siebert Optics Standard 32mm
This is a great eyepiece, especially for the price. At 32mm, I get 50x in my 14" Discovery f/4.5. The eyepiece give fanatastic, sharp views. In my fast scope, there is some coma around the edges, but this does not hamper your ability for locate objects and then view them in the center of the FOV. I had good views of M81 and M82 in this eyepiece FOV at the same time.
