Description:Very nice Solid Barlow. I've been very happy with the sharpness of the views with this Barlow. Also seems to reduce coma with my F4.5 Newtonian.
This is a rather heavy Barlow though.

>"$50 ?? Current price is $79. This "1-1/4 inch barlow" actually has a barrel diameter of 1-1/8", which is great if you like misaligned optics and a barlow stack flopping around like a fish. I can't even try to evaluate the optics, since it doesn't hold steady in the diagonal. Too bad, since the optics look nicely coated, and my Siebert 21 mm eyepiece is not bad. Buy a barlow from a real manufacturer. "

I had the exact same problems. Mine did NOT fit in my Nexstar8 - it was horribly small. I agree, buy a barlow from a real manufacturer. You can often get the Orion 3-element shorty for about the same price, and it is worlds superior to the Siebert model.

I am sorry if you had problems with this product. Some of the older barlow where (scope specific) and had smaller Dia noses made to bypass the stop in some diagonals. These may have been sold to the owner of a different scope it you send it back to me I would be glad to replace it and if it is still not satisfactory I will return you money. Thanks and my Apology's

I agree with the original comments. I was considering a UO Klee in part because of suggestions that it reduces coma on fast newtonians, well the Seibert also seems to have that effect.
Sharpness and contrast are unaffected. Very happy with the results when using it with Harry's eyepieces or my Meade and Celestron Plossols.
It's nice to be able to get such a good product from someone who really cares about his customers.

I do not own one of these that's because seibert Optics will not reply to any one of my three e-mails !
I must say that the comment prior to this one was inaccurate and could have been done in a more considerate manner. One thing that strikes me about the comment is that my x2 barlow was attempted to be put into a diagonal. This is impossible since this is not a shorty barlow and the nose of it falls considerably short of the 1.25" size. The nose of the barlow extends past its 1.25" barrel. So if it is being used in a diagonal the nose is only about 27mm's in diameter. There is no way it would work. It would need to be inserted in the back of the scope and then the diagonal place in the barlow eyepiece holder. This is recommended use of it for refractors and SCT's. If I am misreading his comment than read what is now stated below.

As the maker of these products I care more than an average manufacturer how they are received. So let me clear up a few points here. There is always a variation not only in the size of the barrels of various eyepieces and barlows, but also focusers. Sometimes a poor match of the two - slightly oversized focuser or a slightly undersized barrel, or both - can seem like a ton of play. I have a set of Lanthanum eyepieces - four in all - and on these $120+ per eyepiece the barrel sizes fall consistently short of 1.25". In my BW Optics binoviewers the self centering eyepiece holders cannot even reach the barrels so that they in fact flop around. Does this mean that the Lanthanum's are bad eyepieces with poor barrels? No. In fact they fit rather snuggly in my Nexstar 8 diagonal. But loose in some of my other focusers. In fact they fit exceptionally loose in some of my 1.25" focusers. This is mostly a problem in my least expensive telescopes where the tollerances are not as good. This may have been the case in the aforementioned comment. My barlow's outer diameter never falls more than inbetween 1 3/16" and 1 1/4". With some of the later models within the last month being resized so that they barely fit in one of my tight tollerance focusers. It is more important for the barlow to be able to fit into the focuser than for it to have a perfectly tight fit. The bottom line is we have been willing to replace or resize barrels to people's personal scopes when there has been a problem. Any one of my customers will attest to this. All they need to do is show the courtesy to ask. If it is a manufacturers defect I will even pay the shipping cost.
