Description:Two years after the destruction of planet Maetel, Hoshino Tetsuro finds himself on Earth -- an Earth devasted by war with the mechanised worlds of Queen Prometheum. Amidst the bloodshed, Tetsuro receives a strange recording -- a recording of Maetel's voice, urging Tetsuro to board the Three-Nine once again...

Tetsuro's voyage turns out to be much more than he bargained. Travelling from unknown destination to unknown destination, he encounters the director of Galaxy Express Railways -- the fearsome Faust, as well as the mysterious Ghost Train, which seems to always have precedence of all other express lines. As he journeys on the GE-999, Tetsuro discovers the terrible secrets haunting Faust, and even Maetel - a secret harboured on the homeworld of the mechanised people: Great Andromeda.

Galaxy Express 999: Adieu
Galaxy Express 999 Adieu is a take off from the old 70's Galaxy Express 999. In the new movie, the machines are taking over Earth as humans fight the machines and themselves to survive on what is left of the earth.

The animation is not too bad, very similar to the first GE999. However, the same flaws in this anime are the same flaws that are in the first one, reusing and reusing the same picture over and over! Did they run out of money or something? They really didn't learn from the first one I guess and this really dragged the aesthetics of the movies.

The plot is original for its time, the human race surviving from the take over of machines that need humans for energy etc. What was really funny is how the matrix may have taken their idea from this movie as it needed humans for the use of energy to survive, hey there are similarities anyway and plenty of conspiracy theorists.

While the humor of this movie was not abundant, it is a drama, so humor is not essential to the movie. It is humourous if you watched the first one and remember all of the old characters coming back.

The sound track of this movie is appropriate. It is the typical over dramatic 70's style of anime music from the first one as it should be. This movie was never meant to be a modern anime in my opinion, even though it was made in 1994, so keeping the music consistent with the animation is a plus.

Overall a good watch if you enjoyed the first GE999. If you did not like the first GE999, then steer clear and run as far away as you can, as this will only grate your nerves and make you chew on your remote for the off button.
