what kind of scope?>This is a very comfortable to use optically sharp eyepiece. Its a LOT better than some people make it out to be. > >If Nyke found it "murky" at the edge of the field its probably his telescope. > >I've tested this eyepiece head on against a 16mm Clave', a 16mm Brandon,a 16mm Koenig, a 15mm Televue Plossl and a 14mm Pentax XL. It holds up well against all of these eyepieces. Whereas the 15mm TV puts up very blue images, the RKE throws up an image that is shaded more to the red like Brandons and Pentax XL's. To me this coloring looks more natural, but I honestly don't know which color shading is more "correct". The moon, for instance is much more brown in color and red stars are more red. I like this. > >Overall, it does not transmit quite as much light as the multicoated eyepieces in this group, but its only a smudgen behind. Its not quite as sharp as the $239 Clave', which as far as image quality is probably in my mind the winner of this group, but not by a clear margin....I'm still testing. It's not quite as sharp at the center of the field as the Brandon, but its significantly sharper at the edge of the field. > >By the way, its not a Kellner at all, it is an Edmund Optical proprietary "RKE" design. The lenses are set up completely different. It has substantially more eye relief than Kellners and is substantially sharper at the edge of the field. Maybe Nyke confused this eyepiece with an old kellner. The RKE's have substantially more field of view than the UO,s I've compared them with. > >I think all the RKE's are all an outstanding value and make a great set with the custom case Edmund sells for them.
