Dragonball: Curse of the Blood Rubies

The dubbed version of this one is pretty interesting. You get an example of what Funimation's work was like before Saban was controlling them. All in all - not that different.

They still added those stupid sound effects, and they still changed the Japanese BGM and intro music. What's different is the leniency in some of the material. For example, Yamucha is clearly shown shot with a gun, with no apologies made. Of course, it doesn't hurt him, but that'd never pass in the Saban-controlled dub of DBZ.

It's been a long time since I've seen the original Japanese version, but let me try to remember what was cut:

A shot of Gokou's penis was censored...probably doesn't matter to most of you out there.

A scene where Buruma tries to get one of the Dragonballs from Kame Sennin was deleted. In the original, she asks for the ball, and he says yes under one condition - she show him her breasts. Which she does.

I can't remember anything else that was removed...

All in all, it's still an excellent little movie, and it gives you a quick rundown of what happens in the first few DB episodes. You can usually find this for $10 or under, so go ahead and pick it up if you're a DB/Z/GT fan.
