Of the three DBZ movies that Toonami runs over and over again (and therefore the most likely ones that anyone reading this review would know of), this one is my least favorite.
Before you attack me about my score, let me say this: Technically speaking, the movie was sound. The animation was solid, the plot was solid, the humor was there, and the music was fine... It's things like the pacing and lack of drama that killed it.
On the bright side, Gohan gets to finish off the big villain for once... But unfortunately, he does so in about three minutes and without even trying. Even worse, he was thought to be knocked out when he suddenly got up and just blew away Garlic Jr. with his hidden powers. It comes out of nowhere and, although it does make sense, it seemed rushed.
To its credit, Dead Zone did have a good song for Gohan and the fights with Garlic Jr.'s henchmen weren't bad...
But I can't rank it above Tree of Might, which got a lot more characters involved and had a plot that made more sense, and I definitely can't rank it above The World's Strongest, which had a far better plot, far better fights, and better animation.

It's not really that Dead Zone is worse than Tree of Might, but at least Tree of Might was strangely entertaining. Dead Zone failed to captivate me in any way.

Dragonball Z: Dead Zone

I'd seen the subtitled version, and found it to be quite dull, but I recently saw the dubbed version when it aired on Cartoon Network and all I can say is - "What the hell?"

Peter Kelamis' Gokou is awful. As far as dub voices go, Ian Corlett, the actor who portrayed Gokou through most of the dubbed version of the Saiya-jin saga, did a much better job, although I didn't really realise it until I heard Kelamis.

Also, whoever did Kame Sennin in the dub, even though he is only onscreen for a very short time, needs shot.

Worst of all about the dubbed version, however, is those goddamn sound effects!
Someone at Funimation apparently saw it fit to add Scooby-Doo style sound effects all over the place...it was frightening.

As for the movie itself, it's quite short, and while the fight scenes are nice, there's been better ones in the show. The story is pretty weak, too.

Out of the first three movies, I like this one the best. It had really good fight scenes and I thought the part when gohan gets drunk was funny!

an overall good program but the series seems to tke a long time to get to a good bit, and sometimes dags on a bit, but I love it anyway. I wish it just had non-stop action.

It Was An Awsome movie i also give the worlds strongest a 10 for 2 reasons first of all i llllooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee dbz and second of all after seeing the tree of might (wich was the only dissapointing movie of all 3) id probabley give a thunder cats movie a 10 gulp.
