I received one of the early models of the Denkmeier Bino's and for a conversion I must say I was quite impressed. They were not complete at that time and needed a little refinement, but that came later. I also helped them to develop an optical corrector that is now called the OCS. This was a great addition to this setup although it was not perfect, it was later improved. (2' OCS) The OCS is a little long but other then that gives good performance. The early models were a little heavy but I hear they have been lightened up a little. The light throughput was good as you might expect with its large prisms. It has less clear aperture then the TV units almost 2mm but it was not a major light gain difference for the TV unit. A slight different color was noticed from side to side but it was not objectionable and in fact this seems to be the case in most Bino's The collimation was dead on. The image quality was excellent as well. In some respects I would say it was almost as good as the Televue binos I have tried. although the TV unit has 27+ Clear aperture. For the asking price they are not a bad deal. The OCS does raise the price some but considering the value for the price, still not a bad deal.

I am not motivated by a quest for revenge, so even though I have receive some bad hits on my Binos I would never resort to doing this to a competitor. I hope this honest unbiased review will set a good standard for reviews.

I received the denkmeier bino and 2in ocs a month ago. I now have used it 5 times. 2 with no moon and 3 night with the moon up.I am using it in a 12.5 f5 dob. The views are so fantastic that word can not descibe it,By far the best investment i have ever made. The view with 2 eyes is so much better that you have to try it to beleive it.All ep's i have work well in it.The view of globular cluster and open clusters and nebulas are breathtaking. The moon is a hole new playground. Detail on the planets if beyon my words to descibe, Get one and you will see why this is the fastest growing accessories for any scope. I give it a 9 only because they are coming out with a newer premium model and i have to save the 10 for that. Thanks bob hart

Denkmeier Optical Deepsky Binoviewer
I just recieved my Denkmeier bino last week but feel I can honestly say this is the best accessory I have ever purchased. The bino comes in a handsome plastic carry case that is very well padded and handy. The bino is very well put together and looks like a fine piece of optical machinery. The eyepiece plugs are wimpy and fall out too easily,I don't need them so I didn't deduct any points for them.Although heavy I had no trouble balancing my lx200 with ep's in.The eyepiece holders work smoothly and hold my speers-waler 24mm nice and secure(even upside down). The extra magnification factor is very small, about 1.17x I've read and believe it.The view is magnificent!Bright and clean, easy to combine even on my 48 year old eyes.Very nice even on Neb's and the 3Deffect is a real eye catcher. One thing I was pleased about, the bino takes 11/4"filters.It even works on my Lumicon filter slide.I'm now officially hooked on 2 eye viewing.Bottom line WOW!WOW!SMILE!SMILE!Oh BTW,the Denmeier folks are great to deal with, fast, imformative and very helpful. They also have a 30 day return policy.

Denkmeier Optical Deepsky Binoviewer
I had a TV binoviewer a friend let me use for an extended time. But it finally had to send back. But all was not lost. I came in into a Denk II. It works wonderful with a set Of Siebert Optics 11mm Ultra's and D21mm's. They are very nice and well built, but oH SO Heavy. Thats ok on my big SCT where it doesn't matter as much. But as you will see it pays to have two binoviewers. I had a Black Night Dielectric which is also a great binoviewer. Together they have the bases covered since I also have a 100mm refractor and a 6" dob. The far lighter Black Night with its Multi Magnification OCA gives 1.3x 2x 2.5x in the Dob and refractor. I don't seem to get more out of the Denk on the refractor and Dob so the Denk stays in the SCT were weight doesn't matter as much and I get the best results out of the Denk.

Ranking
The TV was a 10 and I will miss it. The Denk II gets an 8 since it is not quite as good optically and for some reason one of the eyepiece focuses up about 1/8" highter then the other side. I can't understand why. It is more noticable on shorter focal length eyepieces say under 15mm. But all in all not a big problem. I will get around to voting on the BN soon. If you have heard good things about the Denk there is good reason. It is a fine unit. If a voting spot comes up for the Denk 21's I will give them a vote. A little soft on the edge in my SCT but they have nice contrast. Hope this helps.

Denkmeier Optical Deepsky Binoviewer
I lucked into a FMC Denk used on Ebay, and I am very impressed with the fit an finish. The only potential gripe is the weight, it's much heavier than the homemade Nikon I had before. But that comes with being built solidly, I guess. Very satisfied. You can't go wrong.

Denkmeier Optical Deepsky Binoviewer
Prior to my purchase of Denk II binos, my biggest performance leap was when I moved up to a Tak Mewlon 210 from an Orion 8" Newt. The Denks simply knocked my socks off. My main problem...hence the 9 rating for overall, is due to their weight with a pair of 22mm Vixen SWs. So heavy in fact, that I can't tighten the brass ring compression extention enough to keep the binos from rotating during a long slew! I'm using a rather hack solution with a bunjie cord to help with that, but its a small price to pay for such improved performance...maybe carbonfiber binos are in my future!

Denkmeier Optical Deepsky Binoviewer
I had wanted a binoviewer for a long time, but it was a lot of money to invest in something without trying it first. None of the dealers that I know have a "demo" and nobody in our group had made the plunge. I wanted to go into it with both eyes open (pun intended) so I read everything I could find about binoviewers. I decided to try the Denkmeier unit based on comparisons my brother made at the Black Forest Star Party and the company's 30 day money back offer. Am I glad I did! The views are wonderfull. I have had it since the fall of 2002 and I can't stop smilling when I use it. Viewing is so much better with two eyes. The Denkmeier is a quality unit and the staff has been very helpfull answering the questions I had. I am very pleased with the product and the company.
