What a wonderful scope! Stunning views of Jupiter and Saturn. Saturn exhibits a wealth of detail in the rings and on the globe with almost no false color. Jupiter exhibits so much detail you can get lost in the view. There is a bit of color when viewing Jupiter and the moon but the razor sharp images keep you pretty distracted. Better views than an excellent 6" Edmund F/8 newtonian, much brighter. This is the older 6" F/15 D&G and it is a bit of a beast size-wise but does it ever perform! A solid 10.

An outstanding lens. Correction for chromatic aberration is very good.
Excellent scope for all kinds of viewing.Way sharper than any reflector I've viewed in. Mars is exquisite. Slight false colour on Mars. Detail visible is very impressive. Star test is perfect taking into account the slight chromatic aberration.
Scope is a lot better than other cheaper 150 mm refractors I've viewed in. Spherical correction and polishing of lens is excellent.
In good seeing the scope can cope with extremely high magnification.

Great lens for an achromat with a large aperture. Delivers quality star images. Great deep sky scope. We(Brother Phil and I) made an O.T.A baffled fully to fit on a Zeiss Ib mount. The lens has slight chromatic aberration but no where near as much as I thought it would deliver. It's mainly seen around bright stars which I don't make a habit of observing much!! A great scope for faint/diffuse nebula/planetaries for example that require contrast. The scope is stunningly sharp on the moon. Again Chromatic Aberration is not a problem even with high powers of 300 to 500 in good seeing. I'm waiting for Saturn/Jupiter and Mars to come into the picture(July 2000). Double star performance is also stunning. Gamma Centaurus(Mag2.9,2.9 1.0 arc seconds splits beautifully. Eta Orionis has lots of dark space between the stars. It is a large cumbersome scope but delivers stunning images for the price.
