| Description: | BF10 Blocking filter intended for scopes with 1000mm focal length or less. Type: AS1 series. Thermally stable using hard, non degradable coatings throughout. The SolarMax 40 is sold with a companion T-Max tuner and blocking filter. The blocking filter is housed in a 1.25" diagonal. This combination allows for a full disc image at a focal length up to 1000mm. With an adaptor plate the SolarMax40 can be fitted to many commonly used telescopes. Includes T-Max tuner and 10mm blocking filter.
Some events on the Sun,- notably active flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs), are extremely fast moving. If such features occur on the disc of the Sun, their high velocity towards the observer results in their wavelength being Doppler shifted shorter than Ha. This wavelength may be outside the passband of the filter and thereby not observable. The T-Max allows the user to de-tune the Solarmax slightly to bring such phenomena into better visibility. A simple rotary wheel movement tilts and moves the passband of the filter. This does not compromise the performance of the filter nor limit the Ha field of view as is the case with rear mounted filters.
