Celestron/Vixen C80F
I had purchased the telescope used (Celestron Version). Its intra and extra focal diffraction patterns are textbook. Planetary images show amazing detail for an 80mm scope, excellent contrast and very sharp. The adjustable lens cell is a plus. I strongly recommend this scope to anyone who wants a portable refractor with no compramize in image quality.

Celestron/Vixen C80F
I have the Vixen version of this OTA. It has a 2" focuser (that is almost as smooth as a Takahashi), a decent 6x30 finder, and an adjustable lens cell. It works quite well on a small alt-az mount or a sturdy photo tripod. The only color the optics ever exhibited was on Venus one night when it was blazing at magnitude -4.4. Jupiter is spectacular through a 6mm Radian (106x). The first time I star-tested this scope I exclaimed "So THAT'S what its supposed to look like!". If I could only keep one telescope, this would be it.

Celestron/Vixen C80F
I have an older Celestron version of this scope. The mechanics and focuser don't appear as good as the current generation of Vixen telescopes, though sufficiently functional. Optically, this telescope rates a "10" and produces outstanding images. Performance is right up to theoretical limits for the aperture. Magnification can easily be pushed to 100X per inch under good seeing conditions. Star test is 1/8 wave or better with no false color visible in focus. There is a barely detectable amount of color on the brightest of stars when racked out of focus, but I think anyone would be comfortable calling this design completely apochromatic. I call this my stealth scope because it's been repainted all black and carries no logos or trademarks or any indication as to what it is. One look through it and you will have no doubts though. As with most of the small Vixen-made fluorite scopes, if you find one for sale, grab it and you won't be disappointed!
