Celestron Ultima 42mm
What I really like about this ep is it's very sharp field of view. I know some complain about the narrower field of view of this ep {36 degress} but it's a tack sharp field of view down to a f/6 scope. Everthing to and on the field stop is fully resolved and clean. Very rarely have I had the pleasure of using a 42mm ep that was truly sharp right across the whole field of view without obvious lateral color on bright objects. Yes it is nice to have a nice wide field but from my experience only the very top of the line and expensive widefield eps are good to the edge in fast scopes. The Ultima 42mm won't show you a big wide field but what it will show you is a nice sharp image right across the field of view on star clusters and extended objects. Good contrast construction and coatings noted also. I might add that it is very light for a 42mm ep so there is no rebalance issues when changing with other 1 1/4" eps.

Great eyepiece! Image seems perfect all the way to the edge. Good field of view and mag, in a 2000 mm scope! I love it.

For those of you who want to learn a bit about focal lengths F.O.V. (deg)
and max res. in 1 1/4 and 2 inch barrel configurations as applied to various optical tube configurations, go to Klhess.com/Telecalc.htm. It will all come together for you.

Your very welcome.

Odd, the 42 with a listed FOV of 36 gets raves for it, and the Meade 40 with a listed FOV of 44 is slammed. Did I miss something?
