Description:-4-Element Design
-Multi-Coated for Enhanced Contrast
-Rubber Grips
-Comfortable Eyecups
-Good Eye Relief

Plössl eyepieces are a very popular 4-element design that provides excellent image quality and good eye relief. In Sky and Telescope review, Celestron's Plössl eyepieces were rated the top ranking, and found to outperform many similar, but more expensive eyepieces. Celestron offers these premium eyepieces at affordable prices, yet they are among the best designed and corrected eyepieces available. They are multi-coated (not just fully coated) for enhanced contrast and all are threaded to accept Celestron colored eyepiece filters. Now with rubber grips for easier handling, these Plössl eyepieces have been improved even further. Plus, soft rubber eyecups create a more comfortable viewing experience while blocking out auxiliary light and providing increased contrast. An exceptional value.

Really a very good plossl! Excellent light throughput (as with the Celestron 25mm silver barreled black bevel top plossl) and very good center sharpness. The edge sharpness is a bit soft on faster scopes. Always enjoyed looking through this EP, very comfortable eyerelief. It was called the Nextstar 17 Plossl. Sold it reluctantly and replaced it with orthos that have slightly sharper views, but smaller FOV.

Celestron NexStar Plossl 17mm
Directly compared this eyepiece to a Televue 17mm Plossl in a Celestron C-9.25. Both are sharp to the edge with pinpoint stars, jet black background, flat field, excellent planetary contrast. Televue had a little less light scatter around Jupiter but that was the only difference I could detect. Excellent eyepiece for the money.

Celestron NexStar Plossl 17mm
Good optics and OK field of view. The eye relief is starting to get a little short when you drop below the 25mm and 32mm though.

i bought mine for $30 and have been pleased with it. The clarity of the images are good although the contrast could be better. The images could also are slightly dimmer than i would appreciate on deep sky objects. This eyepiece lens seems to get dirty so much faster than my other ones , possibly indicating short eye relief. I really havent noticed. Overall a very good buy.

Celestron NexStar Plossl 17mm
VERY GOOD VIEWS. I USE IT A LOT BUT THE 9 RATING IS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T COME
WITH THE RUBBER EYE CUPS THAT HELP KEEP STRAY LIGHT OUT AND I USE THE EYE CUPS
ON MY MEADE 4000'S TO MAINTAIN THE BEST VIEWING DISTANCE FROM THE LENS

Celestron NexStar Plossl 17mm
Excellent low cost eyepiece with sharp images and good contrast. Very good eye relief. My only criticism is the poor quality of the internal barrel threading. The one I purchased will not accept filters well (same on the 12.5 mm I purchased with it).

Celestron NexStar Plossl 17mm
A high quality eyepiece. Well priced. Sharp across the 50 odd degree field. Good eye relief. Not as good as my Zeiss ortho's on planets but still a good value high quality eyepiece.

Celestron NexStar Plossl 17mm
I bought the 1" version of this eyepiece for $42.50 for use in an old telescope. (The 1" inch version is the same as the 1.25" version, except for the smaller barrel.) I immediately noticed that the image it gave was more contrasty and lively than that of some of my more expensive plossl's and super plossls. I tried it on my C8 and refractor, as well as the 4.5 reflector for which I had bought it. I concluded that I got far more value for money than what I had been expecting.

Not bad at all for an inexpensive Plossl; fairly sharp!
