I bought this scope after having a little NexStar 80GT. I wanted to do some track and stack imaging and the early price for the "kit" of the flip top wedge, computerized hand control and the mount was too tempting. At first I had problems with GOTO but it turned out that you need to set the GOTO approach to POSITIVE for both axes and use a down/right motion and viola! Now the scope is spot on with GOTOs.

The mount is sturdy and has no problems driving the C5 OTA. The OTA is a classic, so little needs to be said for it. I know it is on the small size, but together with the mount and tripod, the whole thing is easy to carry and set up. And with a camera in instead of an eyepiece, I can see pretty deeply. Visually I'm surprised at how good it is as well, especially when I coupled it with a Televue 2.5X Powermate. The planets just popped!

I've used this mount in ALTAZ and also on the flip top wedge and both perform as advertised. The flip top is a bit cumbersome, but it works.

I've had the mount out all night in very cold temps, and it handles it well.

I don't know what else to say about this scope other than I think it is the perfect portable scope. Just enough power to satisfy, and a first class mount and easy operation.

I have owned an Ultima 8 PEC. I expected this to be a big step backwards. I underestimated this scope. I am very pleased with it. The mount is the same as comes with the Nexstar 8i. That says enough about how solid it is. The goto functionality is superb. The views of Mars this week have been great. This 5 inch SCT has produced sharp steady planetary views up to 312x. The Ring and Dumbell Nebulae are crisp and defined. M31, M8, M20 all fun to view. Especially when you can switch back and forth between them in seconds to just over a minute.
