It takes some reasonably good seeing to collimate a large scope, but, once accomplished my unit holds collimation well and the views of Jupiter are stunning in excellant seeing.

The focuser is just a hair stiff, but, there is virtually no image shift during focusing.

My mount tracks smoothly and accurately. In the course of a gear rotation during a PEC training cycle, I discovered the star did not drift, so, there was nothing to correct. I don't bother with PEC anymore. My mount tracks fine for my novice level focal reduced CCD imaging.

I get a 1 or 2 second vibration dampening with the Celestron anti-vibration pads. But, watch out for wind.

I can field assemble my CM-1400 in 15-20 minutes by myself. The only major modification to the stock equipment was to buy a leg-length adjustment kit and add Celestron's DSCs.

When I first recieved this scope, I was very disappointed. The drive would not track and it was badley out of collimation. After about a week, I was finally able to solve all of the problems (a loose clutch). Make no mistake, this scope is BIG!!!. I normally need help lifting this scope to mount it. But after mounting and placing the counter wieghts properly, it is very smooth.
