Celestron C6-RGT
Razor sharp optics; rock solid mount; capable go-to. The scope IS lens heavy, meaning one sometimes must crouch in
uncomfortable postions when viewing objects high above. There are fixes for this, including removing or substituting the heavy dew shield, standing the tripod on cement blocks, fixing ankle weights near the eyepiece end, etc. But whatever, this telescope is an amazing performer! Such false color as it shows would bother only the most finicky observers, and only if they were "spoiled" by views of far, far, more expensive scopes. Before I took possession of my scope I bought some filters to take care of the false color I expected. I never use them. Not needed. This scope even LOOKS nice. You could use it unmodified for a lifetime and be very happy. Not long ago a refractor at this price was unthinkable. How Celestron can produce a lens this size and quality, with so little chromatic aberration, is remarkable. What a huge amount of performance for so little (relatively) money. This has to be a best buy by any definition. One of the very best purchases of any type I ever made. Even better than the fabled Criterion RV-6 Dynascope, and by far.

Celestron C6-RGT
I received my C6-RGT scope a few weeks ago, and I think I can briefly comment on it. First thing, this is a big scope. I'm 5'9'', and the scope reaches my chest when vertical. It is not too heavy; however, the primary lens end of the scope is much heavier than the back end, making it awkward to lug around. Also, because of this, sometimes it can be awkward when viewing through the mounted scope, as when the scope is pointed high up at the sky...you'll have to kneel to get your eye to the eyepiece. I borrowed a solution from one owner and wrapped a 3.5 lb ankle weight near the back end of the scope.

The optics are vey sharp. I was surprised by this, and by the relatively small amount of false color present when viewing bright objects. I was expecting much more color, to be honest. Pinpoint stars across the FOV, and a very dark background sky. I recommend a minus-violet filter (Personally, I prefer Baader's Fringe Killer + Neodymium filter combo), as it will increase contrast and sharpness when mated to an eyepiece.

The mount is a great performer. The 2" steel legs are very capable, and feel absolutely solid. The mount's weight capacity is somewhere around 20lbs. The OTA weighs about 20lbs. Thus, things can get a little shaky at the eyepiece when the inner tube legs are fully extended, or when there's moderate wind. Overall, I think the mount is capable of handling the weight of the OTA, and is suitable for visual use. There are vibration supression pads for the tripod available. I'm purchasing them soon.

Overall, I'm very happy with this telescope system. The optics are great, and if you are one of those people that aren't too bothered by very moderate false color present surrounding bright objects, this is a bargain scope at a great price.
