Recommended by famous astronomer Terrence Dickenson. Here is a quote form Nightwatch An Equinox Guide to Viewing the Universe: "The best binoculars I have seen for under $400 are the Adlerblick series by Carton Optics of Japan. In both the 7x50 and the 10x50 sizes, they are exceptionally lightweight and produce very sharp images." Rubber coat, strap & case included

The first impression of these fine glasses was how clear and bright they are. In Wyoming while glassing for antelope, the clarity was better than 8x Nikon and 8X Steiners used by my friends. I was literally seeing animals that they could not see! Also, the brightness is excellent for astronomy with very sharp focus.
The eye relief is greater than ANY OTHER binocular available - 26mm - and this allows longer, more comfortable periods of use. The deep eye relief also allows longer viewing in very cold conditions without condensation from the warmth of your face.
Extremely light weight relative to their size and are very comfortable to hold for extended periods. To use binoculars for extended periods, both sides must be in perfect alignment, sometimes lacking in higher priced binoculars, and the Carton/Adlerblicks I have been associated with are all in perfect alignment.
I bought my first pair in 1987, which carried the Ricoh label, and I am still using them. The quality is so impressive, I purchased an identical pair with the Adlerblick name and stored them in my safe in 1997.

Excellent, light weight, very long (almost too much) eye releif.
These glasses are great hand held for astronomy. Finished with a leatherette finish. The eye releif is astonishing without rolling up the eyecups. RARE to find these. No armouring so subject to allignment issues. CHEERS

Clear 80-90% to the edge. Very bright. Tight star images, yet star colors
are very apparent. Comfortable to hold and use. Classic "quick-look"
astro glasses sans mount, also superb for daytime use. About $255 US from
www.valleymicroscope.com. Now I just have to get them to a dark-sky site
some day when the Milky Way is overhead ...

The new rubber covered versions of this binocular are not available in the U.S. I ordered mine out of Canada. As compared to the older version with a soft leatherette covering, these have a black rubber covering which I believe will be more durable. Another difference is the f.o.v. is a bit smaller at 6 degrees. The image quality is very similar to my Fujinon FMT-SX 7x50. The weight is about half that of the Fujis. Like the Fujis there is a certain comfort and lack of eyestrain that you will immediately notice when looking thru these; you have to experience it. They are a "10".

I've had mine for 10 years, and I've take them everywhere. Great to look through, nice to hold, nice at night for looking at stars, and also during the daytime too. I'd buy these again in a minute!

I did buy them in Holland (where I live) and use them for astronomical use. Very bright and awesome view. Even during daytime a very nice bino. Lightweight and easy to hold. Payed 100 dollars for it and only on one place the paint is gone. This doesn't matter at all because the optics are in perfect state.
I am glad the shop owner convinced me to buy this binoculair instead of a new bino. 8x56 (from another very good brand). I tested it for ours outside before I bought them.

Needle sharp images from edge to edge, fine mechanics, beautiful mirror-like lens coatings. Views of the full moon are stunning with just a hint of color fringing around the edges. Star fields and nebulae are simply outstanding. Got mine used in excellent condition. They won't be for sale anytime soon.

Wonderful binocular for astronomy. Has an incredible and natural just right feeling. After I did extensive testing between these binos and the Fujinon's these came up the winners. They are nearly half the weight of the Fuji's but to me have the same optical quality. Their actual field is slightly smaller 1/2 degree less but this is very minor. The eye relief is just perfect with the rubber cups up for non-glass wearers and is also good if you must wear glasses. They are a pleasure to hold and look through whether for a few minutes or a few hours. The bad news is that they are no longer available but they do pop up from time to time on the used market. If you get a chance to buy a pair you won't be disappointed!

I have had these glasses for over 10 years and find them useful for travel, casual astronomic viewing and birding. Love these things.
